the process is not over...tom is last day.

i will definitely tell topix..but the panel nd staff had restrained us frm discussing...dont worry 4 ppl who hv tom...its pretty cool.....b relaxed...

today approx 60 odd ppl turned up...
some of them workex less than 2 yrs(>20 mnths<24mnts)...nd some of them had converts from iits or others....to whom i talked...

if they dnt get sufficient no. of workex..they may relax the 24 mnts workex criteria..depends on them...

chill yaar...

Hi sorry for the delay in posting my experience ..

The process strted sometime around ..8:00 i was late ??: ... so missed most of the ppt..blame it on the bus strike..

again about 20% of ppl from each grp were absent.. in my gd grp there were just 3 of us who attended.. were were finally asked to join another grp..

the 2 topics for gd were:
1. Reservations do not adress basic social inequalities
2. Global volatility in stock market has affected MNCs

selected the first 1
we were 9 of us in the grp. most of the guys were with 1+ workex (3 gals+6 guys) Some of the guys even giving their second shot at TISS..
the panel included Dr. Rajani & Dr. Shantanu.
we were instructed rite in the beginnin abt the -ve marks alloted for domination..
however this pt cudnt seep in thru 2 male brains and boy they were on a roll.
i chipped in abt 6-7 times with relevant pts..
overall a healthy discussion..

then was the wait for interviews... Had panel from room no iv...4 in the panel (1 lady+3 gentlemen)

PI lasted for abt 12 min.. was cool.. me frm manufacturing bckgrnd, n so lot of qustns abt labour, trade unions, why HR, impact of modernisation on labour force, current BEST strike, etc....
was pretty decent... seniors were very co-operative n wud lik to thank them for their help and support thru out the process....

the wait for the D-day 24th...

Re: Tiss Hrm&lr (2007-2009) - 21-04-2007, 06:48 PM

I am posting my experience. If not this year, they will help the next generation people.

My profile: BE with 3 yrs exp in core industry.

I reached there at around 8.45 AM. The introduction presentation was already near to end. Seniors form TISS (one lady chiefly) were replying to the aspirants' queries. We came to know that in last batch there are around 60% engineers. Then we were sent to the admin section , to confirm, if our application forms have reached TISS or not. Then we gathered in the main lobby, where GD groups were announced. In some groups there were fewer guys when compared to others. They were announcing roll numbers of around 10 people.

GD
------------
GD table was rectangular, and we were close enough for a good communication. Two vigilantes were there, two ladies at one side of the table. Before GD, We were provided with a piece of paper each, for jotting down points. We were given two topics, we chose one after voting. It was like "Is reservation in higher education only alternative for social equality?". They announced the topics and after that we gave ourselves half a minute to note points and think. They one person started. We had fair and calm GD and everybody participated. But it was stopped and interfered two times by the invigilators. No one was asked to conclude.

PI
-----------

We waited in the same seminar hall for about one hour, when my turn came. There were several panels, my PI was in room#4.

Questions:
You are from ....
Why do you want to do this course?
What is your qualification?
Why did you change your job?
What is your present role in your organisation? In previous job?
Why HR then?
One question about organised and unorganised sector. How can you defile both?
If you are asked to speak about industrial relations in front of many people, what will you speak.
Give examples of some M&A activities in recent times.
What are the benefits for women employees in your organisation? What do you feel about it?
Your interests and hobbies? Some more chit-chat on that.
Where do you live?
If you get selected without hostel, will you accept?
Most of the people were having good PIs. So we can't be sure about the final results based on our own PIs. Let us hope for the best.

It was a well organised event, and I felt good about it when I returned back to join my office, around 1.15 PM.
