In the long run, this is what helps the most. After all we are in the people business. Most of the companies have TISSians as head of their HR divisions. This makes sure that companies keep coming to TISS for recruitment. Recruitment at TISS has always been able to invite creme de la creme of the industry for placements. Students here had the power because of no. of students. It was 30 till last year. This made sure that students always wanted the best companies to come to campus and invariably the best companies in various sectors got the talent. Details of the placement are available at Placement 2007 | Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbaihttp://www.pagalguy.com/index.php?categoryid=54&p2_articleid=683. As there people grew in their organisations and moved to other organisations, they recruited from TISS and today TISSians form a wonderful network.
Average salary this year has been 8.65 Lacs with the lowest being 6.5 and highest being 12. There are various other courses at TISS that cater to various other sectors. There's a course Master's in Health Administration where people have got placed at UNESCO.

can you please be more specific abt this course Masters Degree Programmes in Social Work, Development Studies, Health Administration & Hospital Administration as to wot sot of placements wre hre frm this years batch and wht is the future of a student passing out frm this course.

Placements of HR is the best. In other courses people have different aspirations and money is not the motivator for them. The placements for Social Work are mostly in NGOs and CSR division of companies. Salaries are not that high, but if your aim in life is to work for an NGO then SW is for you. Development Studies has its first batch here, so no body has any idea. Hospital and Health have good opportunities in Hospitals and health administration areas. Some have been placed with Unicef and other multinational agencies. Over all, TISS has some thing for every one who is interested in the People and wants to work for them... be it in any field...

Go through the Brochure. It would give you the clear picture. However, if you compare the fee structure with any institute, it falls just behind FMS that charges around 40,000 for 4 sems. TISS the fee is little higher. In the cost benefit matrix, TISS would be rated very high. Who gives a masters degree at a fees below 1 lac which includes your hostel and food and fees and sports and internet and library............. Guys this is a social science institute and its aim is not to make money but disseminate knowledge and make socially sensitive professionals.

Its a pleasure!!! Request you to go the beginning of this thread to find all relevant information about GD and PI. Some PI experiences are available there.

Remember this is a Social Science Institute. This is not an MBA college. This means that even if are not really business savvy and that if you have general awareness about social, political and economic issues around you, you should be able to get through.

Few of the questions I faced:

Tell us something about yourself.
Tell us something about your last education.
What is (Some hardcore financial term)? I was not aware of the term and said so.............
What do you thing of the stock market? It is a good place to invest......
Where is it going? Upswing.........
Is it helping India? No.............
Why? only 2% of the population invests..................
What should be done to improve the condition? Education.................
Why education is the key?...........................
