[Blasphemous]

Hi friends,

I'am starting this thread because I am really in a great dillema as in where to join. And i am pretty sure there are a number of students who fall in my "Dillematic state".

To begin with..................

Both have their own pros and cons.........

1.Faculty: According to the admission bulletein it's IIT K.
2. Prime Location: Got to give more points to IIT M.
3. Industry Interface: Again IIT M has an edge.
4. infrastructure: Both are same.:neutral:
5. Placements: Same again.:neutral:

going through the above points..............instead of helping the decision ..............it only adds up to more confusion.....

I would hence like to invite all to pour in their thoughts and help us take up a good decision.

i saw ur occupation......me too in the same field.
neways i suggest dont go about judging instis to make a decision. A frnd of mine graduated frm iitb (sys) and landed up in wipro at 5.5 lac:neutral: . u see what i mean......it doesnt make much diff (no offence to iitb tho). chill out and follow ur instincts......not everyday you get that luxury

I also got calls from Both but I am going with IITk. I just loved the campus and as esjay said I followed my instincts.

anyways, as per ur post @blasphemous the institutes are pretty evenly matched. the locational advantage does not come into play a lot coz the placements r equally good n kanpur is not a bad place its the faculty that matter more and if u think its better at iit k then there u shud go..

i wud say, foloow ur heart.. let factors like campus life come in..

hey,its up 2 u.dont compare d institutes...once u r in2 d IIT campus...doesnt matter in which city it is located in....al IITs r really good.

I do not agree with what you have said regarding Industry interface.We almost have had 2 speakers per week from the past 4 months and many more speakers before. Kindly refer to pagalguy news items regarding their details.

Yes i agree with KIM that IITK has better industry interface along with better companies coming for placemnts like accenture, brislecone and vedanta.

Moreover being in chennai is not that much a locational advantage as IITD or B enjoy. And if you are form NORTH INDIA kanour cud be locationally more favourable.

As far as faculty is considered IITK has excellent Operations faculties while IITm scores in systems. So it boils down to individuals choice.

I will say go for IITK as it is a known fact that in engineering IITK is NO1 and thus it enjoys better placemnets in MBA too .

You maybe right..............I think it all boils down to individual choices:satisfie: . I only felt that being close to the IT hub maybe more beneficial.

If this thread is about puttin forward opinions, then i'd always go with IITM bcoz of its locational advantage in general..
i believe that a b school in a metropolitn city scratches up real fast.. we have the expamle of MDI , IITD,IITB with us..
