I think it would be better to take opinion from ppl who got in both IITM and IITK. People who got in any single one would automatically prefer it.

Hey man. u r very right in stating the point that one shud comment only if he /she is thru, nd i know it's very well pointed towards me, i take it as a reaction from your side for being emotinally attatched to your institue.. cool.. even i'd like to ad some passion wen i fly to madras..
But my friend.. these kinda comments r not expected by MBA seniors who are already in reputed institutes like IITK.. might demotivate others..
to remind u on a personal note, u were d one stating that some people leave IITKgp for IITK in the IITK thread.. so look back to ur deeds nd then point ur fingers towards others..

As far as i am concerned i wud hv gone for IItk any day
reasons a. My area of interest is operations and K is best at it (my personal opinion)
b. close to my hometown ie lko
c. the name (m a die hard fan of iitk)

still at the end of the day its ur life ur decisions....set ur priorities rite

no need 4 any justifications 4m ur side.. nd ya..
we need to b mature enuf to realize that both the instituters belong to the same brand name.. nd thats IIT.. nd with your due persuasion.. kanpur is not going to become a metro in the near future to come.. so come down to an unbiased state of reference..try n be neutral as if u never knew that i had taken IITK GD PI..

Being IIT itself makes d institute uncomparable..... but differences come up whn u look relatively........ both bein IIT means thy r both d best instis but if u look d placement stats, IITK median was lower thn tht of IITM, last yr IITM students got placed on d zeroth day ( on pg main page), secondly bein situated in Chennai IITM enjoys a favor of much industrial interface, more number of guest lectures of premium quality n lots of opportunity for training. Also this year d summer placements at IIt M goes International.

just wanted to correct some facts. u have mentioned abt median salary at iitk<iitm. i think u budding managers should try to take decisons based on available and corrrect facts.no where in iitk site is mentioned our median salary and u have taken it for granted it to be lower than iitm. cool judgement!

secondly,if you have been a follower of PG then u must have realsied the flawed premise behind industrial interface thing also. speakers have been coming to iitk fro kolkata/mumbai/bagalore/trivandrum and all. so pls dont make thsi incorrect cocnlusuion that being in chennai automatically translates into better industry interface.it dependes upon the effort of students not the locn.

going by your locn. fundas IIMK/IIMI /IITKgP should have not done so well till now. u may have decided to join IITM.best of luck for your fufture.but pls learn the basic process of arraiving at conclusuions,which is a fundamental trati for being a gud manager. we shud not fall in the habit of MY DADDY STRONGEST. lets put up theb fatcs and let the concerned person take the decision.IIT students are not here to get into this mudslinging,but we IITK seniors are being forced to reply to such topics as inaccurate facts are being put forward. i think my madras counterparts will alo agree.

i believe being athough .i dont know whether u have not been selected at IIT K but IITM is also a gud enuf insti and yes also have the right to give ur opinion. and we all know that. but if u need to take a decision,we need to give some facts. so pls be cautious as to not colour your facts. saying metro metro will not be of any help.if that is the case then every FORE/IMI (situated in delhi)/KJsomaiya would be way above IITM. but is it? think upon it dude.much more goes into making an mba school successfull rather bthan locn.

One thing which vjain forgot to mention is that placement process at IITK was over with in 2 hours and it is a record in between the IIT Bschools
