hey chetan i guess since u r just starting out i will like to redirect u to a parralel thread
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/other-...tml#post622287 (IRMA aspirants)
where all the discussion related to IRMA enr=trance exam is going on this thred has been created with the purpose of catering to the issues about placement, policy and management related issues at IRMA

still for ur convinience i would like to qute that 95-100 is the cutoff for IRMA and 85+ is the cutoff pegged for XIMB PRM.
these figures are indicative and have been quoted on mutual discussion by us IRMANs they may not reflect the absolute figures but are just indicative in nature.

@chetan negi
i can understand the dillema u may b facing regarding the chice of getting the second best now or trying for the best again but my advice to u wud b that if u do not get a call from IRMA and are able to convert the call from XIKB then i c no harm in joining XIMB.
regarding the best and second best thing i can just tell u that the choice of ur institute matters only till ur first job after that its only ur work that stands out for u.:satisfie:

@Arun MAK
well its good to know that ppl really have such an interest with the emerging areas in the subject. well u r right that these are important areas but while "conflict management" has been the mainstay of development in caste segregated areas and has a long way to go to achieve the desired objectives cos of the hue diffrences of caste and language in our country
but "development comm" has been a very new phenomenon and has been realised by the NGOs to be the next big thing some of them have even roped in specialist agencies like MART that takes up rural advertising assignments
the scope for the latter is really big in the days to come

Hi ashish..nice thread..sorri if i am sounding naive,but thought will nyways ask...wat is development communication..in the sense .,wat does it deal with?(specifically)..and who are the ones fpcussing on it..

I used to think he was quite intelligent, in my stupidity. The reason I did was because he knew quite a lot about entrepreneurship and was also one of those IIM and IIT guys. If somebody knows quite a lot about those things, it takes you quite a while to find out whether they're really stupid or not.

@manmade god

just to elaborate and give a general grounding what i can mention is that development communication if a communication tool used by both govt. and non govt. orgs to impart awareness to the ppl the concept is based on utilisation of mass media esp. the radio to provide awareness to the people though TV has largely replaced radio as the preffered source of develpment communication. many agencies also use theatre groups etc. for spreading awareness about health sanitation, diseases etc. by means of small skits.
the case in point is the succesful polio eradication campaign and the recently started National rural health mission dirctive
if u want ne further info on the topic i suggest u go thru the following articles:

Hi asish,

Yeah, true. I ve a 6 month project to be done. My topic is going to be, Spreading secularism through community radio. Now that NGO's have got license to establish community radios. guess its some topic Ill have lots to work with . Its very interesting too. For instance there exist many villages here in Taml Nadu, that have caste system plaguing them. Deep south it worse.

Any suggestions asish? How do i go about it!

Have a nice day!

Arun

Hi,
Those who get a IRMA call applied to XIMB will get the call. Then CutOff there is a weightage like 35%English,25%Quant ,25% Logic and 15% general awareness for XIMB ( Guess). So score around 80-100 may give u a call. But issue is where to Join. First you analyse what sort of career you are looking by joining Rural management. Then Courses offered in both Institutes and ur preferences. Finally Placements of this year or previous . You will get info from Placement notice board in XIMB. XIMB allows Agribusiness companies, Banks, Microfinance and Development organisation for Recruitment. IRMA is the pioneer in Rural management Followed XIMB revolutionise the Concept with a different Edge. So Choice is yours. Think and decide. Its all your Decision, and thought how you can fit into the Institute whether IRMA \ XIMB. All The Best Guys.XIMB - Placement 2006

@arun mak
u r in for a tough assignment:neutral: we were there on the field for the past 2 months and i can probably telll u for sure that caste issues are the hinging points for all kind of mechanisms in the village b it panchayat election or use of a natural resource that is y u need to be really subtle and politically correct in whatever u speak during ur radio programme if u really want to spread awareness about secularity i can only suggest that cite international and national level examples: issues like aparthied, holocaust by hitler and the likes and on national level also u shud touch upon not so recent events maybe u can quote the examples of formation of pakistan and ensuing wars.

one thing is for sure u need to (atleast initially) drive clear of controversial or region based issues and as and wen u deem it to be really important to include local insights u shud go about it. :satisfie:
