F***ed up acads-> Now, that u have trust in me... u can put all ur faith in this one... cos i can put my money on this... All my pals who are doing good today are the ones who had BAD acads.... always... one guy..had a year drop. working for a MNC... another... was always in 2nd class....hes in US with numero uno firm..third was someone who always absent to class kinds.. hes with WIPRO.. another...who never talked anything apart from plain passing the semester.. he is in one of the IIMS...And the BEST - > one who dropped outta 2 yr eng... he has his OWN DAMN COMPANY listed with the Stock exchange... what say... it is his second founding... What say Pal..... .. & look at me... no study... silly old 1 class/ disti... with Reliance (though some ppl think its good...)... & my good pal... always with a disti... a rank holder... happily married with a kid.. mebbe 2 by now... ... look at the stats.....

Hi ppl,
i last posted sth here around 2 B.C
but since there r talks of MICA..i had 2 jump in
can anyone plz clarify the following doubts:-
1)How good is MICA actually? is it really "the mecca of advertising"?
2)How good is faculty,industry interface ,placements et al
3)Finally,wat %ile in CAT ensures a call from MICA?

i hope that some 'enlightened souls' shed some light on these topics and dispel the clouds of ignorance and uncertainity tat r hanging over me

MICA probably the best in india for people who are adamant to go for career in media or advertising. But a candid opinion from my passout friend "it doesn't pays well".
Actually its not the fault of college but initial starting salary is pretty disheartening in the field of media and advertising .. close to 2-3 lakhs (few exceptions are always there). After than depending on ur performance and luck "Sky is the limit".
But still everyone sees the near future and nobody want to take risk.

So my suggestion is go to MICA ONLY if ur DEAD interested in media and advertisement and don't mind struggling for first few years.
Secondly if u get any of decent B-School IIMS, JBIMS, xlri, mdi, fms, nitie, IITSom ...around this standard, then prefer joining them. Coz u can always go for media and advertising after doing an MBA from here. It also hedges ur risk and gives u more opportunity (u might change ur decision of field in two yrs).

come on guys.... MICA is the Mecca if u are looking at a career in media planning ... brand management... advertising... communication industry.... the movers & shakers in the field of BRAND.. thats what MICA makes u....


As hedonist says.. Sky is the Limit if u are a creative person... Without ppl like these.. we couldnt have talked about BATA... Maggi.. AMUL..XEROX.. etcetera... Today they are almost synonymous to the product itself....

Go & check the MICA website.... if what they talk about appeals to u... U ARE THE MAN for it... go for it....but if it doesnt... dont apply.... no point if u are just looking at average salaries et al....

the cutoff %le for MICA last yr was somewhere around 88..but wat is most imp to get in is that u MUST be serious about a career in commn/advt/brand mgmt....coz they really grill u in the i/w regarding that..

one thing i liked about the mica i/w is that they have ppl from the industry who will be taking the i/w (mebbe they r ur potential recruiters in future).. so itz more on ur interest in the subject etc..
