Hi ,
I am here with a second post. The batch of 2006 is fully placed with around 100% of the batch getting placed on the first day itself. The Average salary offered was 6 lakhs , with the highest salary being 8 lakhs. can u let us know what was the last rank that received a GD call last year and the last rank that converted ??
are there any other criteria for the GD PI calls excpet for the JMET rank n

Does IIT K look for candidates who are good in acads and have strong engg background? I am worried as I "forgot" my engg subjects and now after all the CAT & JMET (and XAT/FMS to go), I cant remember what I studied..
Never give up. Even a dead clock shows correct time for two times a day.
Last rank that got converted was around 1450.This was for a guy who had a work ex of two years.The GD/PI calls were given upto a rank of 1550.

You dont need to know all ur engg stuff but at the same time ur basics should be good. Final calls depend upon a combination of ur performance in JMET,GD and PI .Past academic record is also given some weightage.

Can you tell abt placements at IIT K? I did see the link given by KIMO007, but I want to know if there are foreign offers and how was the placements for freshers?

Hi Arora Sunny,
Your score of 55-57 should fetch you a rank of 1000(analysis by TIME). So you stand a high chance of getting call from iit kanpur and kharagpur

I have a JMET score between 52-56
10TH:91
12TH:95
B.E:74% but with backlogs including one right now
what are my chances considering the fact that I am a fresher. Heard that IITK is too acad driven.. is it true.. does a person like me even stand a chance ??:

There were no direct foreign offers ,but there is a high chance of working outside the country after the training period. Regarding fresher placements, the highest salary offered was 6 lakhs with the average standing around 4.75 lakhs
