SIBM's Mar(red)Com(fort) - 30-10-2005, 07:47 PM

Am applying for SIBM's Marcom. Now was I hallucinating or was there some 'missed' print but I couldn't find McCann Erricson or O & M or Mudra in the listed recruiting companies. Same are there in the SIMC's prosectus though. So, hey is SIBM's Marcom really as good as its dual counterpart's said to be.

Hey Buddy

Me not in Marcom, but in MBA Dual... lemme tell u the facts about Marcom.
All the said ad agencies do come to our campus and the list in the prospectus may not be exhaustive... so misses may hapen.. after all its human to err!!!

One thing , apply for Marcom, only if u r that creative dood, who is not a Marketing only dud(me types), interested in branding, media , advertizing etc...

Unfortunately, there r no Marcom ppl activ here on PG... i u want i can ask them to login....

Finally a reply!! Thanks dude. Sounds a trifle tenuous though. Still let's hope first that MarCom makes room for me.
How would you say it compares to SIMC?

Good you have gone through the course structures, but where does the comparison with SIMC arise from?? SIMC is a media creations course... marketing communications is not 'shooting' ad films... its brand management, PR, ad-making etc. etc..... see the difference?? Plus, the 'MBA' tag and not a PGDM blah blah..

At the end of the story, everyting would be fine...... if not, then the story isn't over.....

Dear, last year SIBM took XAT scores and not SNAP. The cutoff under XAT last year was around 97 Percentile. This year, SIBM and SCMHRD will be neck-to-neck as regards cutoffs, my guess is over 98 percentile. Also, SCMHRD is taking CAT scores in addition to SNAP with minimum of 96.5 percentile this year. All the best.

hey moonstruck. i'm currently in my B.E computer engineering, but i am really fed up of the engineering line and always wanted to pursue something creative. Looks like An MBa in advertising or marketing will suffice. Does the MBA in advertising from SIBM really live up to its name?? i.e...do you get all the first hand and practical exposure involved in advertising ..or is it just a theorotical course??
