answering ur qustions in tht very order
1.course is divided in to five semesters (30-35 papers) .In addidtion to tht we ve one field trip of 35 days duration after the end of second semester i.e. in dec- jan.Also,we ve 2 organisation trainings(OTs) of 2.5 months duration each.the first OT is after the end of third semester i.e. in mid april-june.The second Ot is starts in october after 4th term.
2.of course,if u are having one bring here .it ll be good fr u not to walk to computer centre every now n then...coz we keep getting assignments even at 10 p.m. in night thru mails.But again,we ve very good hardware n software resources at computer centre.Already we ve 40 terminals and 50 more are ready for operation.some of the softwares at iifm cost as much as 10 lakhs! so ,it ll depend on you.
3.There are field trip and OT committees being run by students and they are solely responsible fr the allocation of field trip.In first OT unless organisation choses someone or shortlists someone...the ot is given on the basis of rank.in the second OT most of the organisations come fr gds/interviews n select suitable students at the campus itself.That is more of a kinda entry to tht organisation...if u do well during ur 2.5 months stay there.
