Re: Welingkar GD/PI Experiences 2009 - 05-05-2009, 12:41 AM

Hello Guys,

My GD PI Experience:

X: 69%
XII: 77.8%
B.E (Comps): 62%
Workex: 40 Months
Batch : 3rd May - 1:00 PM

Registered @ 12:15, liked the presentation on passion, at waiting area..(was charged up..)

Then came presentation on WE School, followed by Q&A

and then Came GD PI..

GD Topic: Indianness needs marketing in India, had a good GD, no fish market, came in 2-3 times,
my rating on GD overall would be 3.5/5

Then came long waiting....i was almost gng to get into my PI, but batches were running late so was reallocated to new PI Panel, consisting of "Prof Dr.Uday Salunkhe"

My Pi went something like this

Q1> What are your core competencies
Q2> Explain leading with example..
Q3>What are things u need to improve on
Q4> Explain wot can u see in the picture (A DLF Building with a slum besides)
Q4> Why Welingkar

Thts it....just lasted for 10 mins, as it was already 5, and we were way behind the schedule...[:(]

Not sure how my PI Went (as it was only 4 Q's, desperately need this, hope i make it...)

All the best everyone..

Cheers

Re: Welingkar GD/PI Experiences 2009 - 05-05-2009, 09:50 AM

I had very good impression about the college till a few days back when i found out that a couple of my friends in Welingkars who will pass out this year, got into the college using currency...It looks like a good money making racket!

According to me, the only reason why Welingkar accepts so many exams and also goes on to give a call to almost every tom, **** and harry who has scored more than 90%ile (even in ATMA) is because students do feel like they have a chance to get into a 'good' college, which is BS. Needless to say, its a wonderful and totally legal way of earning some revenue to maintain that hi-fi infrastructure.

I have reasonably good marks in both, CAT and XAT but i fear losing out to students having made it there using their ridiculously high ATMA scores, which i'm told, are treated on par with CAT and XAT. (I sincerely hope I'm wrong here)

My worst experience there was during the PI, where the interviewers started lecturing me on why i must always have a plan B in place if i don't get what i want in my life ahead (Read: rejection) I take it as a sign of things to come. Imagine yourself all pumped up and ready to perform your best only to find the interviewing panel holding a condolence meet for your imminent rejection. It sucks!!!

Yeah, it all looks good when the fair, south bombay lasses are paraded in front of the unsuspecting interviewees, yapping on hi-fi walky talkies (hands free too!!) in an inexplicable and irritating Anglo-Indian accents. And it also helps when the college looks like a flourishing airline office. But it misses a pointor two if the deserving ones don't stand a real chance of making it there?

About the snacks? Sheeesh! The omlet sandwich which was provided had already started undergoing putrefaction! Good snacks is the least we can expect after being treated to a well mugged-up presentation garnished with some lame PJs here and there.

hello PUYS

Xth-82%
Xiith-88%
engg-64% agg
Cat 92.39%%
Cet 99.03%

GD/PI date 3rd may 09 Time 9am

reported at the insti at 8.15...

process st at 9.10 am... the PPT minus the video aid for most of the part of the presentation... The BD maam frequently kept pitchin in about details @ banglore campus n BD course... was good to c her enthu to pitch in...

then after the PPT director himself interacted n answered queries... surprisingly+thankfully no one asked @ the fees!!

thn we were lined up for the GD process...

no need to carry seperate material for jotting down points...WE provided pencil n paper...

GD Topic : "The power of internet, are users using it responsibly or not"

i knew ppl wud b blabbering al the mundane points n there wud b digressions n fish market... n so it did...

to my horror the gal besides me never shut her mouth n kept on interferin with her shrill voice.. after many failed attempts i did pitch in my view which was missing in GD til thn...

the GD turned into fish market many times despite the moderators warnings not to do so... also moderators had specifically had mentioned tht u wud not b judged based on the length of time u speak but only on content... bt al eager chaps ensured a heavy fish market...

thn came PI...

i was 2nd..

the first guy was interviewed for 20 min...

thn my turn

2 guys one goin thru form oth askin questions

q1.. elaborate ya educational backgrnd
q2...family's ecucational background
q3...elaborate job profile...
q4...wat wud b major diff in a school fee program n an electircity billing prog..(related to my work ex)
q5...wt is global warming?
q6...one of the panelist says ' i think this global warming is al USA exported mambo-jumbo n there is no threat as such...has this really had any effect in India...tel me ur views...
i told @ it being global phenomenon n the climate changes n @ effected areas... thn he said ki "u say water levels r rising...so its good for us...more water so its good na" .. again blah blah blah
q7..'dont u think govt shud tak initiatives'
blah blah blah
q8... hav been involved in any extra curriculars?
blah blah blah @ dance n all
q9...u say one of ur weaknesses is @ street smartness...can u elaborate
told em of recent example in my proj
q10...u say ur strength is hardwork...so wht is this hardwork...if a donkey is to carry heavy load isnt tht hardwork
blah blah blah
q11... photo analysin n tell wht u can analyse...
it was a picture of under privileged kids celebrating some occasion..had mahatma gandhijiz pic in the back n all religious symbols painted on the walls...
panelist says " Fair enough...thank you! "

The PI was good n i was able to put forth good points @ gloabl warming...
dint fumble anywhere... my best PI til now...

the psycho test was good... first ten quest were graphics of engg... isometric views kind...but very easy... n the rest 65 questions jus check the consistency of ur answers...b alert n u can make out tht the questions had appeared b4 in twisted form....jus introspect n answer...no rocket science....

process ended by 11 am... well co-ordinated by seniors... gr8 job guys...

keeping fingers crossed.... ATB to all.... n guys al those who hav visited the insti seeing is believing... bt if u can get "facts from inside" ... a job well done...

Hmm..I was asked what if I didn't get into an MBA college this year in my PI..
Now i guess my obituaries have been signed!

Re: Welingkar GD/PI Experiences 2009 - 05-05-2009, 12:38 PM

just guessing, but did they allot the gdpi dates according to our profile?
from what ive read in the forum so far--

the ppl on the 3rd were those with really high (98+) scores, or loads of workex...and had the easier GD topics too

the 2nd were those with scores i the mid 90s/ freshers with high scores

on the 1st they called those with scores in the late 80s-early 90s

--just wild guessing purely based on the experiences posted here...and ppl i met at the venue too...

i could be totally wrong...but jus wondering..

Re: Welingkar GD/PI Experiences 2009 - 05-05-2009, 12:41 PM

You could be right. a friend of mine had 91%ile in ATMA and he had his GD/PI on the 1st. Another had 94%ile in CAT and he had it on the 2nd. The one having the 97%ile had it on 3rd.

But because they had allowed people to change their dates and timings, nothing can assumed finally.
