Hey dudette,
You r always welcome. We all r here to help you make an informed decision. There is no mistake in comparing when u r confused. I was in much more confused state last yr and trust me .. I had done a lot of research and comparison.
Btw, the general flow u mentioned is for sure not general... for confirmation u can check any GOOD ranking and u will understand that. (Btw.. no rankings is foolproof.. they can just be used as a trend and not conclusion.)
Just that PG does not allow comparison of B schools in public forum, else we could have given much more insight abt it. u can send a PM if u want more info...
Here are few pointers which will tell you all about why JBIMS...
1. Fees / ROI
* Fees is a definite plus in JB. Around 1.75Lacs (including Hostel). One of the best you can get in the country.
2. Placements and alumni network
* Jb being a very old institute has got a much larger alumni base and this reflects in the placements over the years. The profiles offered by some companies at JB are better than those at many top colleges in country.
3. Location
* Location wise you can't even try to compare JB with any other college in country. Cant get closer to the heart of commerce in India. When you talk about location in terms of MBA college ,its much different than comparing two cities. I Banks,Consults, BFSI Bigwigs, Mktng biggies etc.. all of them are housed in Bombay. So the exposure you get over here is much much better than you can even dream of getting at any other place.
4. Infrastructure
* If you are talking about the library then JB has one of the best Management Libraries in India, rest assured. College building is fully euipped with Wi-Fi facility. Being located in a prime location in Bombay comes with few disadvantages, lack of space being one of them. But let me tell you... If JB is sold... it can buy 10 other colleges which boast of having acres of campuses.
5. Student quality
* Top 120 out of more than 76000 students chase for one college .. JB. An acceptance ratio which is even lesser than that of IIM A. No need to mention how the student quality will be.
6. Learning experience
* The faculty at JB is one of the best in the country. Whos who from corporate world come here to teach us. Cant ask for more than that.
Hope this info helps you in taking an informed decision.

about the comparison, spare me guys with the thought that i'm a

Hey dudette,
Putting up questions is what fetches you answere I guess. So feel free to put up any query related to JB here. Our effort is to give you the most unbiased and practical answers possible.
Whatever shortcomings JB has are very clearly accepted by us.But none of them really matter much in determining a great B-school.Unfortunately,
they do matter in forming a perception of the same. And that's why people have their doubts about the college, when compared to some highly publicized names.
Now would you rather study in a fundamentally good college that has average packaging,or would you take up one with huge publicity but weak foundations? My post was aimed at clearing that doubt.
So you're basically free to put up more doubts And that wasn't a backlash...just some honest advice!!

Hi sc@rf@ce,
First of all, congrats for your job offer!
Regarding your worry about the work-ex marks, I would like to inform you that YOU WILL GET the marks for work-ex even if you are in JPM. I was in an MNC(not listed) and I DID get the marks for work-ex.
If I were in your place, I would give my best shot at the entrance exams and try to get into JBIMS.
Considering the slowdown, it is the best time to study instead of working. Besides, JBIMS would never think of 'downsizing' unlike a company.
All the best !
PS: This is my personal opinion only and YOU are the best judge for yourself.

And even if it is that we are supposed to fill Mah CET(I am assuming that in that form we will specify which scores to consider),would it be required to appear for Mah CET.I mean filling the Mah CET form, skipping CET but applying with MAT score. Is this case possible??Please shed some light on this.

You need to appear for CET compulsorily...!!

@marathaMavala: Dude the hostel is a few hundred feet from marine drive
It's a walkable distance from college.
And allocation is done with priority to outside mumba junta...so get an admit first and then rest assured, you will enjoy the hostel.
