Hey palak...plz calrify this for me...

Suppose i fill some colleges in cap 1 and I get admission in 6th college and i leave that college coz i want to move to the 5th best......in this case can i fill the same 6th college in CAP 2 below the 5th one to make sure at least i dont miss out on the 6th one and in this case can i get into that 6th college coz my marks would be higher and there would be cancellations in the 5th and 6th college

Hope u got my point

looking at the cut offs of last 2-3 yrs....i m sorry dude u have very slim chance of getting into top 5 colleges.....u can go upto cap round 2 or 3 and fill top 7-8 colleges and hope for the best.....checkout pg colleges ranking and rankings of top institutes like ims, time, career forum etc who are under CET and rest is up to u

All the best!!!

Hi Niru,

See the colleges that you put in the option form in CAP 2 are completely independent of the colleges that you fill in for CAP 1. So that is completely up to you.

In CAP 1, if you get your 6th option in CAP 1, remember that there are many other candidates who might have chosen to rank that particular college higher than yours and hence would get admission there. Now if you choose to not take admission there in CAP 1, your seat would be up for claims in CAP 2. But if a person having the same score as yours, or higher score, has opted to rank that college at a rank better that yours, then naturally he would get the preference. Hence that would be a risk.

Hope this helps. Take care n all the best

The DTE would put up the exact dates for the CAP rounds along with the instructions on how to go about the process, when they put up the final results.

guys i think this is all very complicated and also risky..

Say i get the admit for a college which was my 6th option..that means i m eligible for the next round...this is OK but does this also mean that u give up the seat and go for cap2.
If yes then whats the use? cos then u are risking ur current seat and may get stuck up in a bad option than ur cap1 admit.....

Is this the scene? I think need to clear this with DTE in mumbai...any friends from mmbai can help us all :-|

Ashish your understanding is correct....i'll answer it in parts :-

1) You get selected in say 6th college onwards then you can take the seat or leave it.
2) You leave that seat because you want to go with a better college based on the cut off of that college that you see on the dte website.
3) You would not be able to take that seat again unless on merit if you leave that seat during cap round 1
4) Yes you take a big risk if you leave that seat and go for the next round and you never know how many seats would be left.

I would just say "A bird in hand is worth two in the bush!!!"

I hope this explanation helps.

Niru
