CET 2008 GD/PI Experinces

hey guys,

This is my experience. Had my slotbetween 11-12 at MET college Bandra. Reached the college at 10:15. Filled the form quickly as I was well prepared in advance for this. GD followed. There were 10 ppl in the group as 2 were absent. They opened a sealed envelop which had 2 topics...

1. Job in MNC or Enterprenuership?
2. Industry is the key to prosperity and progress of a nation.

were given 30 seconds to choose. and we took the 2nd topic with 7 against 3 majority
were given 5 mins to note down our points and 25 mins to speak

was an excellent discussion...everybody had active participation...even the panelist applauded and said that they did not come accross such a GD for a long time. I was satisfied by my performance...chipped in 5/6 times and gave a new dimension by talking abt film industry and fashion industry..

Than came the shortest PI of my life ever...
Panelist: lady in mid 30's and guy in mid 50's
After i gave the sheet...

L: huh..so u from XXX college?
Me: Yes Mam..

L: huh...so u work in XXX MNC??
Me : YEs Mam..

L: So y leave the company?
Me: explained well...

L:tell me abt ur self?
Me: told...

L: so u play football? Which is ur favourite club?
Me : chelsea ...bla bla...

L: Tell me abt the recent controversy they had woith ManU??
Me: (Well it wasnt a controversy but a pont to debate)...told anyways

L: so u wake up all nite to watch matches...how do u find time from ur job??
Me: told...

Gthis is the only thing he asked) Tell me about the HAND OF GOD GOAL??
Me: sir..its maradona against england at the world cup?

L: tell me something abt the IPL?
Me: told ...

L: I wanted t ask u one more thoing but i am not anle to recollect the Q...hmmm...fmmm?

Me HUH.....dats it...)

I dont know whether they were really serious abt taking the interview...or just doing tp...i was dissapointed because I feel I did not leave any impression on the panelist as they were really acting like they are feeling bored and want to go home!!

Some one has posted a lot of eco-based questions previously on this thread...search for them here n i'm sure that'll help u a lot.

20. What can govt do to control inflation?

21. What is the current rate of inflation?

22. What is Public Finance and Private finance?

23. What is Balance of Trade?

24. What is Balance of Payment?

25. Features of Indian Economy?

26. What is foreign Exchange and foreign exchange rate?

27. What is the current tax slab proposed by Govt in Budget 08?

28. What is WTO?

29. What is IMF?

30. What is Demand pull and cost push inflation?

31.What are stablization and structural policies?

32. What is disinvestment?

33. Role of agriculture in Indian Economy?

34. Important Points about Budget 08?

I think this list is enough indicative of what questions can be asked to a commerce graduate.
This list includes all those questions which were put to me or my frnds who have done B.com during PI.

Hi all,

I had my GDPI today in 12-13 IST at SIMSREE today slot,everything was well organized.

In GD we had following topic
1) Is buisness of buisness only buisness
2) Commersialisation of health care - good or bad?

We chose the second topic.

3 Observers, 2 males and 1 female. 1 guy was arnd 30-35, other was 50-60 and female was also 50 -60

Female had at the start informed that dont make it a debate and let everybody speak which helped since no fish market scenario.

Overall was a good discussion mades 4-5 strikes and also summarised. But everybody sprang on me when i gave negative aspect of commercialisation donnu why? but all in all was good experience.

PI had 2 panelist both males one around 40 (P1) and the other around 60 (P2).

P1 spoke most of the time P2 hardly asked anything.

P1 - Introduce your self

P1 - Who initiated RTI movement (Dint knew so he told me later it was Anna Hazare)
* Be well prepared for the significant event in last decade as i had mentione RTI Act.

P1 - About my Job
Explained

P1 - How do transmit signal to satellite and recieve it?
Explained

P1 - Whom do you think was the best Prime Minister India has had?
Lal Bahadur Shastri- told about Green Revolution and we could have avoided current grain drain
Then he told why not Rajiv Gandi he contributed to telecom (since me workin in reliance)
again explained

P1 - He asked me should he ask bout GK
P1 - What are nobel awards?
explained

Now P2 spoke

P2 - India also gives such awards
Told him about Padmabhushan n Padmashree

P2 - Who got it this time
Sachin Tendulkar

P2 - One actress also got it and shes is marathi
Had it on tip of my tounge but couldn't recall
Madhuri dixit

P1 - Why Mba, Which Stream - how will you do better in that stream.
Why leaving current job.
Explained

P1 - Asked what sports do you play
Cricket Footballl and Basketball

P1 - What do you think bout IPL
Explained my View

P1 - Asked in developing country like india sould so much money be put into sports
Explained and also told that IPL has benifited also as 6 Cr was given to Jaipur blast victims.

P2 - Asked no academic achievements
before i could answer P1 spoke that awards are not important participation is important, i agreed on the same.

That about it.

PI experice was very good.

All in all was a good GDPI experience.

Had my GD-PI at JBIMS at 4pm..batch no.27

1) urbanization leads to deteoration of value system. (selected)
2)University must concentrate on creation of knowledge and not on conducting exams and awarding degrees..

it was a group of 11(only 10 turned up)
I entered the GD thrice...with examples..hopefully relevant.

the PI was the coolest..out in 5-6 mins..
2 panelists..both 45+,one was a parsi and the other a south-indian...

A bit late to post, had my GD PI ON 20 May at Welingkars,
11-12 Batch 23
After the usual profile filling form da process started.
GD 1: jobs in MNC's or Entreneurship
2: Industrial growth is imp. for India progress
Had a vote and first topic was chosen, an average GD , everyone spoke 3-4 times, but not a very good one as most of the inputs revolved around the same point, done in 15 minutes
Immediately were taken for PI, I was second in the line
2 panelists, both 50+ men
P1: So what do you do
me: blah blah blah
P2: so you a doctor , what are you doing here?
me: blah blah
P1: so why medicine after 12 th , no one guided you?
me: blah blah
P1: tell me bout your Family
me: blah blah
P1: wat was todays headlines
me: SBI deciding to stop loans to farmers
P2: do you know why?
then they spoke with each other for 10 mins about condition of small farmers in India , me just kept nodding Yes sir, Yes sir, Yes sir
P1:anyways it was good talkin to you, i really liked your ideas,

1. I am a mahrashtra student (from Sangli) and my CET score is 140 and my XAT score is 97% ie. CET equivalent 123. While filling the online appln form should i say yes for All India seats?

2. I lost my postal receipt, will that be a problem?

3. What are my chances of making it to JB or Sydenham?
