I think Nuclear tests in 1998 can be mentioned... Those nuclear tests are one of the reason why Indo US nuclear deal is being contemplated upon.

hi guys.....terribly sorry for the delay in my reply...my comp crashed 2 days bac and finally ive come to a cyber cafe..

anyway i had my gd/pi on 15th at jbims at 9.00 am.contrary to popular beliefs jb was realle chilled out!

i reached just in time,but since i had prepared to write a lot of gyan on the questionaire,i got a shock as i had to write it twice (for the 2 panelists!!).when we entered te gd room i got a shock as there were 16 chairs with numbers laid out!luckyily for us only 8 turned up,and out of them only 6 spoke well(including me).and the topics were also chindhi...

1)managers should look within for inspiration and beyond for perspective (bakwaas)
2)in business, like in cricket, the captian plays the most crucial role in the success of his team. (phew, this ws chosen)

we had to basically talk of the ideal qualities of a manager and find analogies with cricket.while we spoke the same crap again and again in different words there were some good exmples too...i spoke of how dhoni had confidence in joginder singh in the last ove of t20 world cup final, or how shane warne has been the perfect captain n taken his team of underdogs to the top.blah blah...
there were 3 panelists- a stern looking lady and two elderly parsis,a lady and a gentleman.he was conducting it and said that it was good at the end of it...

next was pi...the schedule had gone haywire by now...luckily for me, the girlwh entered before me wasnt very impressive;she was also 1 of the 2 who dint speak at all..so i knew that i could manage a good impression.anyway there was againa stern looking man and a very sweet looking motherly figure with him;i was imensely comfortable thanks to her smile...
Stern Man: please sit down (i purposely stood till the asked me to sit)
(a long pause coz they were busy reading the heavy dose of gyan on my questionaire)
SM: why havent u performed as well in ur engg. as in ur 10th..(i was expecting this)
me: blah blah (but confidently)
SM: why MBA and in which field?
me: some more blah and said HR as my specialisation..
Sweet Lady: what are soft skills?
me: blah, (acutally spoke more than needed,told her y its imp in todays customer cerntric world!)
now rapid fire:
SM: what is the capital of finland?
me: helsinki
SM: how is the vice president of india?
me: hamid ansari
SM: who are the terror suspects of th jaipur blasts?
me: with full forms HuJI and SIMI.
sweet lady: where do u stay?
me: navi mumbai
SM: you got 98.3 last year in cet,wot happened?( i knew my mention that in acad achievemnts wud get me some where good or bad)
me: i told them how i preferred a bettr coll so struggled 4 another yr.
SM: so wot ur score this yr?
me: 99.3
SM: good, so wich colls are u aiming at?
me: blah...also told them that i need to crack gd/pi to get thru jb (hope they got the hint!!)
SM: wot is the dollar to rupee conversion today?
me: i dint know exactly so i said between 40-41.
SM: its 43.5,do know its falling rapidly....( i doubt if its 43.5!!)
SM: if not HR, wot else?
me: mktting, coz of the skills i possess (heights of selling myself)
SM: if this doesnt work out wot will u do?
me: toled them i had got thru SIMS pune..
SM: ok gauri,best of luck...(hand held out for a hand shake)

guys, please be confident..be aware of wots happening aroung u....some random gk like capitals of countries etc...
and just for ur info..the gyan i had written was "passing of the rti act 2005" and "tata corus deal 2007" as significant events...guys please think with a wider perspective, in terms of future too...

hi guys........i had my gd pi today at met, mumbai.

we were first made to sit in a room and told fill the personal details form.
the form is available on the first page of this thread..... prepare the answers in advance as exactly the same format is given at all centre.

also pls reach the centre 30-45 mins as filling up the form takes some time.

we then proceeded to another room for the gd. there were 12-13 people part of the group. we were then given two topics to select from.
1)The service sector in India has become a large source of revenue for the country.
2)Flexible working hours better than conventional working hours.

surprisingly the group chose the second topic...i thought the first topics had more scope than the first topic.
we were given a piece of paper and 2 mins to make our points...the paper was not collected back after the gd.
we were told not to create a fish market and let everyone speak.
the gd went on very well with 4-5 people coming up with good points
it lasted for 15 mins and then people who had not spoken much were given a chance to speak by the moderators.

the pi was immediately after the gd...it lasted for 5-7 mins.
q- about background and qualifications?
q- there was a lot of emphasis on why mba?which specialisation?
q- based on the details filled in the sheet a few questions were asked.
q- there was gk questions and questions on current affairs also asked...like who would be the next prime minister......what are decissions last 2-3 years that have affected the economy the most..

hey daksh_san
tho the GDP growth wud seem more of an ongoing process than an actual event, u cud always use this as a significant event if u feel strongly abt it. of course, keep sum facts n figures handy to bolster ur conviction abt ur answer. at the end of the day its how convincing n confident u appear to the panelists tht will determine ur marks.. all the best

No offense but that's a process and not an event .......
