Re: CET 2008 J&k Quota - 22-04-2008, 08:44 PM

Hello People...i see all of you are very confused....and so you should be because all of you (or may be many amongst you) are going thru this for the first time...its a great thing to have a thread dedicated to people who want to apply thru J&K quota...i tried hard at finding one nearly two and a half years back when i had similar doubts and was going thru what you are today but unfortunately there was none and i also didn't bother to create one (which was bad on my part)...well past is past...Now after having been there and done that i am on the verge of completing my MBA from one of the best (actually the best with due regards for others like Indira, Sinhagad etc) institutes (PUMBA) in Pune you can hope to apply thru CET ..my last trimester is about to get over and i have a lots of free time before i join in June...so i would be glad to clear any doubts if you have. It would be nice to use my knowledge and past experience (in making it to the top 5 in J&K quota and then coming out a winner after 2 years of hard work) for the benefit of all you future aspirants of my community and i think this is the best platform to do so. So guys start shooting and lets hope for the best for all of you.

hi rriisshhii DONT KNOW ABT MAT SCORE. AT 88.44 %ILE U HAVE SOME CHANCES OF GETTING INTO PUMBA.WELL I UPLOAD PREVIOUS YEARS CET RESULT FOR J&K.HOPE IT HELPS.REGARDING DOCUMENTS I DONT KNOW. IF U GRADUATED FRM MAHARASHTRA PROBABLY THAT DOCUMENTS AT TIME OF J&K PROFORMA WOULD BE CONSIDERED THAT U GAVE AT TIME OF ADMISSIONS TO ENGG. COLLEGES IN MAHARASHTRA.

Re: CET 2008 J&k Quota - 22-04-2008, 09:28 PM

well dear with ur percentile in CET i doubt whether you can make it to the top 5 (JB, Sydenham, PUMBA,KJ,Welinkar..not necessarily in that order)..after that all depends on hw you fare in your GD/PI...If you score exceptionally well (above 35 out of a max of 40) then anything can happen (I mean you may get lucky enough to get admission in any of the colleges outside the top 5 I have quoted above..e.g Indira, Sinhagad, SIES etc..)..regarding your MAT score I think it was not considered two years back (for J&K quota)...however i am quoting here in bold letters a few lines from the latest rules regarding J&K quota candidates as given by Directorate of Technical Education (dte), Maharashtra..
Eligibility@ Criteria for admission to J & K migrant candidates:
1. Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification
AND
2. Appeared for the Common Entrance Test (MAH-MBA/MMS -CET 200, GD & PI conducted by the Competent Authority of the Maharashtra State for the academic year 2008-2009.

NOTE :
• @ To become eligible for admission the candidate should score 20 or more marks in MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2008 OR equivalent score of 20 marks or more in the All India CET (CAT/JMET/ATMA/XAT/MAT(conducted in February 200)
• J & K Migrant Candidates who have appeared for CAT/ JMET / MAT (conducted in February 2008/ATMA/XAT and seeking admission to MBA/MMS course against 15% All India Seats (OMS quota) must fill in & confirm the application form for the CET i.e. MAH MBA/MMS CET 2008 as per the procedure.

I think this should clearly give you some idea..ONLY if you want to apply through the OMS quota (where you stand a far lower chance as compared in J&K Quota) will your MAT score be considered.
What i would suggest is that you better stick to your CET score and hope for the best

Re: CET 2008 J&k Quota - 23-04-2008, 09:21 PM

The documents which i think you should carry are
1.SSC Passing Cert. (Marks list)
2.HSC Passing Cert. (Marks list)
3.Graduation Passing Cert.
4.Your CET Score card
4.Migration Cert. (A certificate issued by any gazetted authority e.g. the Ofiice of the Relief Commissioner at Canal Road, Jammu declaring explicitly that... Mr. ABC is registered as a Kashmiri Migrant in the ration card of your father Mr. XYZ, Resident Of..... (your Kashmir Address) at present.... (your current Address which may be Jammu or Delhi) under Registration Number ABC/567/....He figures at Serial Number 1/2/3...of the said ration card..
This certificate is being issued for the purpose of obtaining admission in any Educational Institution/University under the reserved quota for the Jammu and Kashmir migrants only, on the basis of Registration record maintained in the relief organisation at Zone/
Camp/ Tehsil... 789/pqr/ ii etc...

Signed and Stamped by the Relief Commissioner

The above is the exact draft of my cert. which i submitted at the time of my counciling at Sydenham, Mumbai. I don’t think you would require it at the time of GD /PI. In any case I think to be on the safer side one should always carry each and every cert. because you never know what might be required at that very moment…and god forbid if you do not have it, you may have to repent later. This list is not exhaustive and you may further check if you need any other documents than the ones mentioned above. Please be sure not to totally rely on any info. given to you by anyone until you confirm it from your side also.
