Currently I would recommend you to do a normal PG or MMS degree over IB degree .. unless you get admission into IB in a good college.

International Business mainly deals with Exports and Imports. The placements in colleges like IIFT and Symbiosis have been great as far as IB is concerned. But in other colleges the placements have not been great. The future of IB is good but it will take time for the placements to pick up.

Both MMS and PG are similar. MMS would be preferred if you are planning to study abroad in the future (a lot of students nowadays do a 2nd MBA abroad after a few years of workex) where a Mumbai university degree would be better off than a PG from welingkar. Otherwise if this is your last place of study then it does not make a difference except that welingkar is known to show bias towards PG students.

Anyway the decision will come only if you get admission in both .. So dont worry about it now and try to get admission in the best college you can.
thanks for the reply sir.....

i have scored 97.58 in xat.........however dint got good marks in other exams......
but getting good marks in xat was certainly not a fluk.the mistake i did was i applied only for xlri and sp jain(dint got calls from both)...........dint applied to ximb and gym.....however i had a really good ATMA and decent cet (dont think i will make it to jb but for others i am hopeful)

as of now i have no intentions of studying after doing my mba.........

the only thing worrying is me that the average package being 6.5 and mean sal around 5 (i got this from some of my friends) ie 50% people getting below 5L....if i land up getting there...it would ultimately be a loss for me........

i know there is no gurantee that i will fare well in exams next year due to increasing competition...but at the same time i dont wont to land up i a situitation which is equvivalent as of now..........

kindly advice keeping all this in mind............

and do also let me know that assuming i have a decent 2 years at welingkrs .....what are the chances of me getting more than or equal to 8L...CONSIDERING MY WORK EXP AND ENGINEERING BACKGROUND

can you please throw sum light on the lateral placements at welingkar
Across colleges 2 years total experience, or 1 year in related sector is considered for laterals. So not just your experience , its relevance also matters

Relevance is normally not so important. 1 year experience is sufficient. I had got a lateral placement despite the fact that my work ex was in industrial design and I got placed in a division where I had to set up franchise.
Also a number of my GDPI students for placements who had unrelated work ex got lateral placements this year in JB and Somaiya.
Though there are a few companies who may ask for relevant workex.

If you think that you work ex is good and maybe even if you do not get into an MBA this year you will be able to give GMAT and get into a good college (India or abroad) then dont take up welingkar.
Otherwise take up welingkar.

You will have a lot of students with Engg background from good colleges and with some decent workex in Welingkar.

Man I am assuming that you are asking this bcoz you want to apply to CET next year.
You will be a mumbai university candidate. Only you need to do is apply for domicile certificate in relation to you parents residing since 25 years.
And at the time of submission for forms you just need to produce that domicile certificate.
