Hey dude
I am extremely sorry for the unanswerable queries....we had back to back events organized by students here...
First I'll answer your question n then will talk abt the event...
Now...placements...what are they...quite arguably..one of the crucial deciding factors of any institute..
@ SIESCOMS...placements r pretty decent..Most of the students went for over 5 lakhs last year...n this yr its gunna be much better..
I'd like to say one thing here...placement depends a lot on student profile (fresher/relevant workex etc) Our batch (2007-09) has an amazing batch profile with over 70 % having a workex..so things r very optimistic here..

faculty..
The faculty here is pretty decent..we have an opportunity to interact with faculty members from SPJAIN,JB,etc
Our Director Dr. A.K.Sengupta was heading SPJAIN in his earlier assignment...
Besides that...every saturday we got a guest lecture (corporate interaction) lecture...visit here for more Siescoms Weblog

Recently we had a RETAIL SEMINAR where we had retail biggies like Rupa Purushothaman(Future group),Mr.Kishore Chaukhar(TIL),Mr.Patwardhan (President HR Asian Paints..) So u have a good mix of visiting and core faculty..

Thridly Infrastructure...

To start with infrastructure..all class rooms are having a good seating arrangement and are air conditioned..We have an Auditorium (where group and guest lectures take place) with a seating capacity of 200 students which is good..
Most of all we have laptops compulsory thanks to the uninterrupted Wi-Fi zone spreading across all over the campus..
Library...
SIESCOMS boasts a huge library which the alumni still come to access..We have an online journal database called EBSCO (even the IIMs and other top instis have it..) which covers over 3000 journals and research papers...

All in all...SIESCOMS is a place to be...
I will keep u updated with all the details...
Once again...Sorry for not answering in time...

Hi Srini... First of all...I must recommend u .donot bank upon only CET if u ran OMS student...go for MAT/ATMA too.. Now,for MMS, the cut offs r not measured in percentiles / scores but it is measured in RANKINGS... So u can have same score/percentile but different RANKINGS which is the deciding factor for any Bschool entry.. If u roughly see OMS cutoffs u need a above 99.85 %ile in CET/MAT/ATMA... The fees for MMS is 75k per annum and fees for PGDM is 1.5 lakh per annum.. Now...a BSchool being worth or not..well I think this question is a pretty common one but still it is student specific...so plz tell me your profile.. I must tell u the profile this yr that the students who got thru SIESCOMS have....there r people with 4 years workex..including a guy who worked in GOOGLE...there is a person in MMS who has 7 years workex... So its all happening here...I hope that answers your queries.. Thanks

Some more things about SIES. I was an engineering student on the same campus for four years. Our building is adjacent to the management building, and I have seen it grow quite literally in those four years.

Mr. Sengupta is supposedly one of the best things to happen to the SIES campus. Placements are pretty decents and more importantly the college students are good too.

The auditorium is amazing. We have had quite a few events there being from the same college. You dont require a mike to address over 200 people because of the semicircular nature of the auditorium.

I remember the classrooms too.... Airconditioned and secluded during the day

Regards,
Sunil

Yups it was a busy bust week..As Santa just mentioned about Day 1,

------------------------------------------------------------------------
we r finally done with the NATIONAL HR CONFERENCE...at
The Rooftop, Hilton Towers, Nariman Point

The whos-who of the industry were there for the seminar...
5th October, DAY 1 began with Ms Jaya Row, Founder, Vendanta Vision talk on “Spirituality In HR” followed by Ms Nina Woodard, Director, SHRM, India talk on “HR Facing the Music”

The first module on Employer of Choice – Talent Acquisition we had
Mr. Adil Malia Group President-HR, Essar Group
Mr. Awdhesh Krishna Sr. VP & Head - HR, Lehman Brothers
Mr. S. Srivasthsan AVP-HR, Sony Entertainment
Mr. Thothathri Raman Consulting Editor, Business India, Delhi

n who better than Mr. Vivek Patwardhan, VP-HR, Asian Paints as a moderator.

As the second module began. it was a bit contemporary & amazing to see a Bschool give Felicitation for Lifetime Contribution to HR to eminent personas who have contributed theories, practices , and to say so...their Lives to HR...

Prof. Sharu Rangnekar Management Consultant
Dr. P. N. Singh Chairman, Grid Consultants
Dr. K. N. Sharma Retd. Sr. VP Personnel, Godrej Soaps

A very smart close for Day 1 was the crisp talk on Doors to Sustenance – Talent Development

Ms. Anjali Raina Country Training Director, GCG, Citigroup

Mr. Sanjay Muthal President HR-Nicholas Piramal

With that Day 1 came to an end...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 2 on 6th October began on the rooftop with Tea Coffee and the best cookies in town..

The day began with the discussion on R Cube – Rewards, Recognition and Retention moderated by Dr Devendra Nath, EVP-OD, Larsen & Tubro

The honorable panelists for the same were
Mr. Ramchandra Rao President-HR, Hinduja Group
Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh Director-HR, Zee Group

Module 5 kickstarted with CEO’s Perspective – HR as a Strategic Business Partner
I believe something better than this couldn't have brought an event of such a big scale to an end...
The dais was blessed with

Mr. Jalaj Dani Executive Director, Asian Pains
Ms. Anita Ramchandran CEO, Cerebrus Consultants
Mr. K. A. Narayan President-HR, Wockhardt
and the panel was moderated by a person who was absolutelyfab..Mr. K. S. Kumar, EVP-HR, Fullerton India

Then came the sumptuous lunch by the Oberoi Kitchen...
A few short meets during lunch where the corporate bigshots exchanged valueable tips to the budding management students..

All in all..I can say only one thing...the whole event instilled a real taste of HR in the minds of the corporate HR managers who were there as delegates and majorly students..
Surely a major value add to us all...
Thanks to SIESCOMS...

Dear Sunil,
First of all, a heartly thanks to you from all SIESCOMSites for spending time on this space. Yes, as you say, SIESCOMS is one of the fastest growing names in the management institutes. The infrastructure can be called a state-of-the-art and as u know there are many temples in the campus itself which give u a serene and calm environment to focus on ur studies.
A peculiar thing about SIESCOMS is that it has kept a balance between the culture and the fast growing pace of management knowledge..

You'll be glad to know that now the pace of corporate interaction has increased a lot too..IInitially the corporate refrained from coming to Navi Mumbai, but now the corporate biggies are often frequenting the campus..
More can be seen here on LIFE @ SIESCOMS thread:- http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/b-scho...-siescoms.html

and the SIESCOMS Blog by the students :-
Siescoms Weblog

One of our batchmates, Yogesh Sangewar has also taken an initiative called the LEARNING CURVE where each week a SIESCOMS'ite takes an initiative to value add the others..In the bargain the whole of the batch gets the knowledge transfer and there is a growth in the knowledge banks of the students...

THE FINANCE CLUB started by our jolly-good-fellow Rohit Musale is also catching the eye of all SIESCOMSites...In this each week the Finance gurus(thanks to the BCOM+MCOM+CAs+3yrs workex junta we got )

share their expertise about the financial world - equities, mutual funds, share markets and everything in the finance umbrella...

These initiatives are just a few of the many that are buzzing around...
Soon we will be coming up by a Global Warming Drive which will surely grip the whole of Mumbai, thanks to our very own budd Krishnan's unique initiative..

Looking at all this I can sure say, SIESCOMS is here to stay..

Hi Vidushi,
The cut offs for MMS was pretty high this time...
157 for OMS
around 136 for Outside Mumbai candidates
around 150 for Home Univ Candidates
and 135 for the Minority Candidates
*PS : This is the final merit list result

The average pay pack as I said in the earlier posts was around 5 lakhs..
with the highest salary going above the 10 lakh mark, which was an International Placement. Details of the placements and other can be found in the earlier posts or here:-http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/mat-state-level-cet-related/19819-siescoms-aspirants.html

Any further queries plz put them here...
