Hi.. i stumbled upon Paagalguy wen i was googling.. i was really happy to see a thread on something i very badly wanted to ask. i'm a 2006 passout and i've written tancet this year. My ranking in anna university is 5.. the couselling is on 25th. but i really want to know if PSG is good or anna university is good. Its coz all my frens tell me tat PSG is doing good and only for engineering courses anna university is fine. So i just thot i'd've some of ur suggestions. please help me on this issue. this is very impo 2 me as the counselling date is also too near.. :neutral: Do reply soon so that i can decide!!!!

hi preethi first consideration is
money:
anna university mba course costs around60000 for 2 years
whereas psg costs around 3 lacs including hostel and other things
placement:
comparing placements anna and psg are more or less same
infrastructure:
psg is way better than anna
industry interface:
anna is damn good since in the heart of the city
because of the above said reasons i prefer anna
i too have counselling on 25th and my rank is 6
hope to see you in anna if at all you decide to enroll at anna university

I have a friend who had done her MBA-HR in PSGIM, her comment regarding psg goes like this....

1. Good infrastructure, every student suppose to carry a laptop...and faculty too are good...

2. Regarding placement... All got placed in her batch with an average package of 3.5lpa... she got placed at pantaloon...

3. The weather condition is really awesome...

4. Fees s little bit high..

45k/sem = 45*4=1.80l
20k pa- hostel = 20*2=0.40l
10k pa- mess = 10*2=0.20l
Laptop = 0.40l
other expences = 0.20l

Total = 3.00l

So, altogether you will be ending up with 3 lakh for the 2 years..This fee structure is normal and cheap when compared to other b school like ICFAI, ABA, IBA, ETC...

And I have a friend who done his MBA-FIN, SYS at Anna univ. His comment goes like this...

1. The infrastructure is not as good as psgim. But its "OK"

2. Placement... I think u r clear abt the placement pakages at anna.. the avg package and highest package are little bit high when compare to PSGIM

3. The faculty members are good...

4. The main advantage is, its in heart of city and u can have a good exposure with industry..

5. If your going to opt for systems as one of your spl then anna is your college...

Regarding fees...

very cheap...

15k/sem * 4 = 0.60l
living exp = 1.00l*(no hostel facility)
laptop = 0.40l#

Total = 2.00l

#-laptop is not compulsory, but its advisable to buy it for an MBA...

*-living exp at chennai will cost u 3-4k pm for a normal person.. which will take 1 lakh for the 2 years.

So, the fees difference is 1 lakh...

My suggestion...

Choose psg:

1. If You are located in 150km radius

2. If money is not a big deal..

3. If you want to get a B-school atmosphere...


Choose anna:

1. If yo are located in chennai or nearby..

2. I think you can easily touch the salary package of 5lpa...Coz only 60 students in the class! If your giving importance to placement then i will suggest u to join anna..


I have tried to bring out the best analysis from me, If any data is wrong or written by mistake pls do correct me...

I suggest you to visit each college in person and choose according to your needs...

But i am still having some questions, to clear my doubt.

1) only these 9 listed colleges will participate in the counselling or else all the colleges in the coimbatore zone will do?

2) in total how many seats are allocated to coimbatore zone?

3) what is Auditor's Association? Is there any instituion in this name or any association?

I hv also bn looking for a thread on Tancet on PG forums! I hv taken Tancet this time and got 35 with overall rank being 244 (OC)! Don't tnk i hv any chance with AU Guindy since the cut-off declared is 42 for OC...but one thing..dey hv not mentioned anthing agst Community Rank and in the letter no mention about name, rank etc..so it means i am not eligile for counselling..rite! hv not applied for any other college under Tancet except Guindy college..but thru my Atma score (95.20%) agst mgmt seats i got SSN and i paid the fees also to secure the seat..at PSG they said last yr cut-off was 55 and i hv to come through Tancel counselling..is it still on and can i apply now??
Have taken Mah-CET also but with my score of 137, not gtg good colleges in first round..dont know whether to go for 2nd /3rd rounds or not...
meanwhile Welingkar PGDBM also gives me a slip..now only SSN seems to come around for me..what is your views about the college..to me it is a ok college..and comes 3rd after PSG and Anna Guindy..
please let me hv your views and suggestions if any..thanks..!
