Hi acad, Thanks once again for your earnest reply, i went through the previous thread of life@pumba , found it very interesting, would love to continue with the thread once i become a part of this prestigious institute (hopes are high). One important personal question though a silly one to all the pumbapg guys, on the confirmation of your seat how many days does one have to pay the fee and fulfill other formalities. I am working in a KPO in Pune and havent saved a single penny to sponsor my MBA programme, though the amount is not too big is anyone aware of the possibility of paying the fee by borrowing money on loan from any of the banks, what are the terms and the conditions? did any one amongst you or your friends paid the fee through this medium?

The fees for PUMBA would be Rs 39,000 per annum. U wud have to hence take a loan of approx Rs 80 K from the bank.
Now there r many ppl I know who did take a loan and u need not be surprised bout that. Simply coz thr r still many who wud rather take a loan n pay it off later than take it frm parents .
My advise-
1) Approach Nationalized/Govt banks (Prefer Syndicate Bank, South Indian Bank, SBI, BOB etc).
2) In case if there r wrking members in da family, they can be "guarantors" to ur loan.
3) U can also provide any of ur life insurance policies as a collateral security. U need to declare surrender value and date of maturity at the time of submitting, get this info frm the LI company.
4) PUMBA, on confirming admission, will give u a payment to be made receipt which u need to show to da bank to confirm disbursal. U can also get a letter from the department to get such a loan.
The amount is paltry....and University Of Pune MBA is very well known. Banks wud be even eager to assist u. Do not worry, everything shud just wrk fine. The amount base being low, u wud not have the EMI pressure too. I took this loan and repaid the entire amount in 15 months ...paying just 4K extra to the original amount. The ROI is just brilliant.
All the best.......and yeah....welcome to the GANG
Cheers

Hi acad, Thanks once again for your quick reply, as soon as the admissions are confirmed i would visit the banks recommended and talk to them about the loan, admission in PUMBA would be a saving grace for me, this monotonous existence for the past two years has a toll of my confidence and my career, hoping for a big fortune reversal once i land in PUMBA.Regards

thanks in advance | though u've asked it specifically to acad, i wana reply by saying that bank give loan only against fees of college & sometimes also against accommodation expenses like hostel & mess if offered by the college or some recognized hostel.
for laptop & all, u do get loan but its not considered as an educational loan....some banks might be able to club ur loan for laptop alongwith college fees with some different rate of interest being calculated!
the best way out here is wherever u apply for a loan, press hard for a laptop loan with lower interest rate which also gives the bank a chance to enhance their lending!
if that doesnt work out, u havat purchase laptop based on EMI or loan whose interest rate would be different from education loan (also the terms & conditions).........most of the computer retail shops provide loan facility for laptops so u can try that anytime"!! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to justrohiet For This Useful Post:

The loan scheme carries liberal limits of Rs.7.5 Lac for courses within the country and Rs.15 Lac for oversea courses. For upto 4 lacs no security and no margin is required for studying in India, which makes it easier for u to get it.
So nothing to worry much.
