@syd pg
in sydenham pg there is no such thing as home univ & other than home uni, candidates of all univs in maharashtra will be given admission as per their state category merit no. in syd pg there r 8 seats for obc.

a small correction (based on last years data) syd pg has 10 obc seats and while syd pg has 8 home and 2 state seats ....

i chkd info regarding sydneham in sydneham mms frm 2007 seat distribution whch u r provided they hv home uni obc in mms course but in pg they dont hv any home uni thing i think they considers equal to all state students

Hey hie...

C in syd all seats are given a status GOBCO...means other than home university..But actually in u go and c the actual scenario is that 8 seats are for home university(mumbai) and the remaining two are for other than home university..But all the seats are considered as GOBCO..So i think v can easily sit and relaz since in syd all the process takes place the same way as in syd MMS..

1. even thg sydenham was established way back it has not yet made its name amongst the top b schools whereas welingkars founded abt a few years back is doing gr8 and definately overtake sydenham.
2. the avg salary of 120 students of sydenham is just 8.10 whereas the avg in welingkars with 430 students is 6.5 ..
3. the infrastructure of welingkars is way better than sydenham
4. classes in sydenham r not regular therefore u will get to knw many ppl who r working while doing thr mba
5. it is said and even believed by few ppl in sydenham that at the rate which welingkars and somaya are growing they will definately overtake sydenham few yrs down the line...

If placements is the only thg an aspirant is looking for then he will get it in all the top 5 colleges even better at welingkars and k j somaya two yrs down the line...

i m also following sydenham's thread. after reading that, i thought u hav changed ur mind.

earlier u had some opinions n u openly expressed it (even though qualitative comparison is not allowed on the forum). Now if u hav changed those opinions, dont forget to post that too. So even after so many points against sydenham, u may prefer sydenham for actual option form filling. n it may turn out to be misguiding others.

please correct me if i m wrong.

hey guys, does anyone have an idea about SBC category?
I have an overall score of 137 (Home Univ- Pune).
What are my chances of getting into Welingker or Somaiya?
I am aware of the fact that the merit for other Univ students is high but its just that i have people telling me that its way easier for an SBC candidate. All i know about SBC category is that in CAP 1 round, i would be considered as an OBC and get a college accordingly but in CAP 2 round, out of the remaining vacant seats for reserved category, 2% are alloted for SBC candidates and that too preference is given to them before the SC/ST candidates..
My Home Univ rank is 49(amongst OBC candidates) and category is SBC/OBC.
So the question is that if i dont get alloted in the CAP 1 round, should i keep my hopes afloat for CAP 2 round or else go for a college in my Home Univ (for e.g. PUMBA) in CAP 1 round ? Is it likely that a candidate who does not take admission at the alloted college in CAP 1 round, has a lesser chance of getting the same college alloted in CAP 2 ?
The answers to the above questions are really going to help me fill out the option form take the requisite decision whn a college is alloted.

Rules for MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2008

dear all, you can find above link on the home page of dte.org.in/mba in download section, where in, they have discussed about rule no. 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2

Rule 9.1 clearly mentions that '
The extent of fees concession, nature of fees concession (loan/scholarship), requirements of certificates etc. will be decided by the State Government and same shall be binding on the candidate.
The details of the fees concession (if any) will be made available to aspiring candidates at the time of filling of Option Form for CAP Round-I.

As OBC candidates are having 50% and SBC, SC, ST, NT and VJ are having 100% concession in tution fees last year, it is highly important to know abt the college fees and details of concession for current year which DTE has commited to display at the time of filling of Option Form for CAP Round-I.

So far no such details are seen on the website.. Only Chetna and Sydnham have declared their fees details on their website officially.
