Hmmmm.... A row on DTE norms.

Waise DTE waalon ki marzi hai bhai, kabhi unhein chahiye Indian origin ka proof , aur kabhi kabhi nahi chahiye....

Like in my case last year.... no hassles in the acceptance of the form whatsoever. I don't even remember if my nationality is mentioned on any of my certificates. But the rude behaviour is typical of workers in almost all government offices. The less said about that, the better.

Empathy is one thing you can't expect out of them. Sorry for what you had to go through S...

And since the officials are not objective about these cases, I think we should be before commenting on anything.

Bole To....HARI OM

Re: CET 2007 Results for OMS(Outside maharashtra) - 09-07-2007, 03:17 PM

Acadfunda is right about the way a person should be well prepared in advance for the process. But,the fact remains that the whole process is far from being smooth.Reasons:

1)Non uniformity in standards:Like LongShot,I never proved anything pertaining to nationality. Not one certi of the sort was even asked for by my ARC officials. This means that a different set of rules applies for me and resurrectedsoul, and that stinks.....

2)A manager is not supposed to be superhuman.Period.No Harvard/Stanford/IIM degree can make a person absolutely chilled out in virtually any situation.Infact arpit, the best management teams in the world couln't stop the Enron debacle, the Nandigram issue or for that matter Coca Cola being drivrn out of India. So anyone can make a mistake, but the punishment shouldn't be so damn dogmatic.

3)With power comes responsibility. For god's sake the guy is atleast carrying an affidavit stating his nationality. If one has any doubts on the certitude of the same,he can atleast accept the form and put in a special comment in the login that makes it mandatory for the person to submit his documents before the allotment.Just rejecting it right away and making a person work for hours for his recourse is pure bull.

4)The rules are too damn confusing:I completely agree that one's gotta know the rules before playing the game. But then, which MBA entrace examination in the world has a rule booklet spanning 57-60 pages???And for that matter, has complicating the rules helped things work properly??Nup

Ok so what to do??You gotta speak to DTE directly. If they don't budge, you gotta talk to higher authorities and try and get things sorted out not for your case that has been solved anyways, but for more people who'll have to face such things in the future.

The problem is that if we take things lying down,it's not the system's fault.Even the best products in the world rely on customer feedback to improve their quality, and the CET process is no exception. You gotta report the shortcomings in the process even when it doesn't concern you directly.

But starting a blog or signature campaign won't help here. The problem with us is that even when we protest,we do it so damn defensively.Just report the issue directly and contribute towards the much needed improvements in the process.Otherwise, don't expect things to go right on their own.....

Hi,
I am an OMS candidate. I am using my MAT score in dte process. I have completed the procedure at ARC. They asked me for MAT score card and graduation certificate. But still I have not received my CET score card. Wont It required as a proof for my GD PI card. I am a bit apprehensive that wont this become as a hindrance for the future dte process.

hi - 10-07-2007, 12:10 AM

Hi,
Wah Johnbhai is here. I agree with whatever analysis he has done. I just wanted to say,as John said, that we need to keep our cool and do the best in contributing to the betterment of the system.

All of us very well know about the existing bureaucracy and its ill-effect experienced by all of us. But then we have to take a middle-way to change the system. So instead of pointing out people of a particular ARC, it would be better if this mishappening is brought in picture to the concerned top dte authorities . This will surely make the whole procedure less daunting for the future MBA aspirants.

Anyways, I too have felt a lot of stress in understanding the existing dte process , esp. for OMS candidates. This is apparent from my previous post.

Relax!!People have started recieving their scorecards.I for one, recieved it today itself
You'll need your scorecard at the time of admission, and by then you'll get it in any case.In the worst case,if you don't recieve it in 5-6 more days, apply for a duplicate.
