The problem will come for those who believe they have a chance in 2nd to 5th colleges in subsecuent cancellations. So cant give a general strategy for everyone. Depends on your rank. But yes be clear as to what u want and fill accordingly. If your rank is 50-700 or so, I would not recommend you to fill all the top 5 options. Fill in JB, (Syd, Som, Wel) (depends on which order u prefer). Maybe PUMBA if ur keen. But how many options to fill will depend on your rank between 50-700.

Hi Patrick,

I think in the CET info & strategy thread, u just mentioned that Pumba was a very strong option. Now suddenly u r mentioning that it maybe an option. Why such different opinions now? Please share any info? Also how does KJ and welli even figure in options if colleges like Pumba are not? Please guide as as far as my research and experience goes, Pumba is still one of the best in our country. I am not talking sheer plcmnt details here (whch I know now), I am talking on a lot of parameters. Also I have never seen you justifying any of the other options. Suddenly there are bad vibes about a lot of cet colleges (plz refer the threads named b-schools here0

Thx in advance

Calls" IIMK, IIMI, NMIMS, SPJ (MIT)"

...now the better colleges thru CET - JB or PUMBA

PUMBA is a very good option the only colleges good enough thru cet (my opinion only) are
JB,PUMBA,Welingkar,Somaiya,Sydenham

welingkar is the fastest growing among these followed by PUMBA who has made good progress since going autonomous

I still stick by the fact that PUMBA is a good option. I have rated the colleges based on the last year closing marks and the placements, which are the important parameters in terms of selection of a college. I have some of my students in PUMBA and they have given be good reviews of the college. But as per last year closing marks PUMBA was rated below JB, Sydenham, Somaiya, Welingkar. The rankings will not change overnight. PUMBA is definitely better than some of the above colleges in some of the parameters. And maybe in years to come PUMBA could be ranked above some of the colleges right now ranked above it. In the end u have to decide.

PUMBAs low closing can be explained easily it doesnt have great infra (small pt) but the major turning pt i feel is most ppl ( top rankers) are from mumbai and hence prefer mumbai based college ie somaiya, welingkar i left jb and syd because rite now those are the top 2 and hence not much thinking has to be done in selecting them (syd is good because its gr8 faculty and very high roi)

Well u do not have to fill any form right now. Only after u have got ur scores, u have to fill in a form giving ur choices of colleges. U do not get the calls directly from colleges. U will have to fill the option to be eligible for the admission round.

PUMBA is an University Department and in case of any university (specially in India) the reputation and real growth of the University and hence its its departments (in terms of quality of infrastructure to patronage by the govt., UGC etc to over all motivation of the faculty and students) directly depends on the vision and standing of the VC and also the growth of the Deptt. is greatly (though not solely) dependent on the Dean at any point of time. Fortunately for PUMBA, the PU had one of the most efficient and forwardlooking VC (prof. Kolaskar) for last 3 years who is well known for his achievments elsewhere too. (It does not mean the others were less but it is just a matter of focus and priorities as well as the capacity to get 'things done' by any particular person).
It is sincerely hoped that now that PUMBA is developing and grwoing fast, it is able to maintain the tempo and match the expectations. From various feedbacks it seems it will go higher in ranking (unless lethargy sets in like the typical state universities are famous for).
