Hi dude,

I firmly believe that rankings are subjective.
SIMSR is a well established institute.
The highest placement last year was 12 lakh.
We have professors who come from IIM-A & IIM-L.
In addition to this our Infrastructure is being revamped by a very high extent.
We may make MMS a fully residential course next year.
The management cares about the students & is taking every step to provide everything we want.
We have just begun to tap our Alumini base which goes as far as "Madhusudan Kela, head (equities), Reliance Mutual Fund".

nOW IT IS UPTO YOU TO DECIDE

wE rank it as one of the TOP 3 B schools in mumbai

Rohan

Dude the most imp factors to be considered while makin the most imp decision of ur life ( b school selection) are:
1. PLACEMENTS : Getting superbly placed is not at all a problem at simsr. Year after Year we have many companies returning empty handed from the campus. As rightly said in the earlier post the highest salary went up to 12 lakhs last year. For every stream the placements are equally good( a case rarely found in most of the good b schools).
visit the link below to see the some of the renowned recriters.
http://simsr.somaiya.edu/simsr/place...recruiters.asp
2. INFRA : The two storied structure is being transformed to a four storied one. apart from this all the courses will be completely residential ones from the next year. the schools library is perhaps the best in town.
3. FACULTY : All is said in the previous post. a very large faculty many being from IIMs.
4. ALUMINI BASE: The school being started in 1981, the alumini strength is quite huge.
5. ACCREDITION: PGDBA & MMS Programmes of the Institute are accredited for 5 years by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). SIMSR is perhapas the only b school in the counrty to receive such accreditation.
Ranked among the top 7 as per recruiter's perception (Business Today, Sept- 2005).

most of the b schools ( especially the ones offering mms) severely lack in atleast one of the parameters, thats placements, infra faculty etc. Somaiya is equally good at all of these.

Hi Amit,
Last year the cut-off was around 125.
This year 60 seats were available for the open category students so the cut-off went lower.

Regards
Rohan

calls for gdpi were given to all freshers those who had atleast 89 percentile in cat and to all experienced ppl who had atleast 83 percentile in cat. then depending on the gds pis and cat percentiles (and other factors as well) ppl were selected. this is for pgdba.

for mms the first list cutoff was 165/240. cancellations still goin on
