Hi seniors, Priyanka,Mangol,Reuben!!!

Over the past 3/4 days, there was utter confusion regarding 'minority' seats in 'minority institutes'. Finally, it seems, DTE has left everything unchanged as far as the seat distribution is concerned. On perusal of the latest seat distribution for the year 2008-09 (which can only be accessed after logging to your account thru the DTE password), the distribution may be exactly the same as last year's.St Xaviers CAP allotment remains unchanged thereby alloting 48 CAP seats for((MS+ AIR (All India Ranks)).I presume 12 seats would be for 'mgmt quota' taking the total intake to 60.In the DTE's distribution, only the CAP seats = 48 have been shown without the breakup of MS + AIR seats and no mention about intake of mgmt seats. .I presume 15 % of 48 = 7 shall be the AIR quota this time which would be the same as last yearsOMS quota. Had the seats been distributed taking into account that Xaviers is now a minority institute (since 11th June 2008 as per their website), the AIR seats would have been 2 or 3 only. Does this mean that Xaviers 'minority' tag would not be valid for this year???? may be because the notification of Xaviers being a minority institute was released only on 11th June'08. This change in the status may be reflected in next years seat distribution pattern????.I hope I am correct in my understanding. In short, I need to know the number of AIR seats this year ::: whether 3 or 7!!!!!!!

Please help me by confirming this thru your sources. May be, if you are going to the college, please get the same confirmed from the college authorities.Kindly excuse me for taking you all for granted and troubling you again.

Thanks

Regards

Rajati

Friends,seniors:

regarding the above querry I had called up Xaviers today. They told me that wef 11/6/2008 , Xaviers has been granted minority status and thus there shall be only 18 CAP seats this year.

However, the latest DTE details (accessible only to the applicants thru their password) mentions as CAP = 48 seats for Xaviers. No one seems to know anything on this at DTE. If CAP = 18 , then AIR = 3. IF CAP = 48 , then AIR = 7!!!!!. Please help me with the relevant clarification.

Thanks and regards

Rajati

Hello,

Laptop is not compulsory. .
The institute does not provide for laptops. We have our computer lab working through the entire day. So most of us do not even bother getting our laptops.Except ofcourse some of us who really want to get it along.

Hey Rajati,

Thanks for the update….

The breakup of the seats are:
Minority: 31
Management: 12

Guessing, because this was the SIES break up last year:
Open: 8
Other than Home: 4
J&K: 1
OMS: 5

Hello Everyone,

I just spoke to the college officials and they informed me that the management quota admission process is still ON.
They mentioned that they are ready to accept online registeration of people with exceptional marks. So Rajati, I have a feel you should register online and then give the college a call, you stand a good chance....all that provided you are interested in the college..

Regards,
RButhello

Reuben Sir, thanks for the info. Well ,I leave it at that, and hope for a good outcome thru CAP. If not Xaviers,I would be in Pune and studying in the likes of Indira/Sinhgad!!!

I would be filling my options as under :

Pumba,Syd,Syd,Weling,KJ,Xaviers,Indira,Sinhgad,MIT ,Wadia etc

I would like to be in Pune if I do not get Xaviers. etc. Please suggest any changes if you think the same would help me.Kindly reply at the earliest.

Thanks once again

Rajati

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for being offline of late.
Answering things at random considering that a lot has transpired here.

Well anyone who wishes to procure an admission through management seats and have not filled the form or have filled the forms and not got a call .. my suggestion is to go to the college personally and speak to the director.
He gets so many calls each day and he cannot decide anything over the phone.
The procedures are still going on as today as well I saw candidates in college.

@Rajati as far as the notification is concerned, I spoke to the rector of the college (above the director) and he said that no such rule applies as of this year and the minority seats will stay at 31 and the management seats will be at another 12, totalling to 43. So DTE-CAP will have 18 seats.

Well again i think you should consider SIES and PUMBA as well as i've heard they are good colleges too.

CAP rounds start on 11th is what i have heard.
I have little idea if any set procedure(CET first, CAT/XAT later) is being followed. But yes i've noticed the process has been much much more regulated this year as the college has got a big pool of students to choose from.
The management process belongs to the director and I think he is looking at all aspects of the class....ratio of... (work-ex / non-work-ex), (Variety in profession, age etc) to give the class a diverse look which is a very important aspect as well... So it's not all accads or marks either.. though a certain benchmark is what he'd have in mind.

Apart from that i think things are going well with everyone now looking at the CAP rounds..

All the best for that.
