hi guys,

just to continue with Nitin's thread.... even i was in the same batch (2.30 pm Batch no: 4)...
I was also offered the seat as soon as my PI was finished....
From my observation they were looking for the guys who r really interested in taking adminsn to Xaviers... they asked my preferences of collgs...aslo they asked me one thing when they offered me the seat that " What is the surety that u wont leave for any other collg thru CAP rnds?" .. i was bit perplexed with the qt first( i was not expecting this coming).... but seeing my score 154 i think rite now this is the best offer I can get....
But the process was very cool... In PI they asked all abt my work exp (currently working in IT comp)... such as what is my learning during the one yr of work ex, why u want to do finance(i mentioned it in form), do u read about current affairs (both india & world), if yes what mag/books do
u read...., etc... etc...
i think u just need to be cool & calm.....

@ nitin,
Congrats man... hope to see u in the collg.... when r u going to collg for paying the fees?? I might go today afternoon...
keep i touch ..

Well actually even i was asked the exactly similar question and even i was baffled initially but i stated them categorically that since i wish to pursue MBA in finace i will be trying for Dalmiya in CAP rounds. So i didnt assure them that i will be coming to xaviers but looking at my score too 156, my chances for dalmiya are bleak and xaviers is the best option(infact more than best) i have.
Hey deval am going tomorrow for fees payment, i have submitted my originals though. See u soon man.

Hey every1,

Firstly, congrats to eall who have managed to convert the call!!!
Well, the rate at which the admissions arebeing offered, I dont see a chance of me even getting a call.... By now 12 seats of MQ wud be full.

When I last spoke to the director, he confirmed that eveyone who has been issued the forms will be getting a call regardless of their increase in cut-offs. However, I dont see that happening anymore. I had mentioned both, my CAT (82.4%ile) and CET (140) scores, with 27 months of relevant work exp. in HR I was quite positive of at least getting a call... Now, the chances seem absolutely bleak....

Though I have converted a call from Welingkar's, I was more keen on Xavier's...

Regards,
Punam

Buddy at max what u can do now is to speak to director now. But i dont really think he will issue u form becoz the procedure has already begun and even seats have been offered. but no harm in trying.

@ punam...

I met director today & he was telling that still there will be mgmt rounds going... i think they have completed with linguisitic quota (not 100% sure).. they r going easy & slowly for the selection process of mgmt seats.... so chances r still there... so dont worry... ur good amt of work -ex might fetch u the seat... ....

for guys those who have made thru... the collg might start from end of july...

Hey Punam.
Looking at your profile am sure u will definitely get a call and as director said tht they will prefer people with CAT/XAT scores and work ex as well and u satisfy both conditions. And they wouldnt have given away all 12 seats. What i mean is how can they offer all seats before looking at candidates yet to come. I knw with so much hoopla going arnd on the thread, ones bound to get a bit nervous. but just stay calm. do well in process and with ur good profile u shud definitely make it. all the best.

Hi seniors, Priyanka,Mangol,Reuben!!!

Over the past 3/4 days, there was utter confusion regarding 'minority' seats in 'minority institutes'. Finally, it seems, DTE has left everything unchanged as far as the seat distribution is concerned. On perusal of the latest seat distribution for the year 2008-09 (which can only be accessed after logging to your account thru the DTE password), the distribution may be exactly the same as last year's.St Xaviers CAP allotment remains unchanged thereby alloting 48 CAP seats for((MS+ AIR (All India Ranks)).I presume 12 seats would be for 'mgmt quota' taking the total intake to 60.In the DTE's distribution, only the CAP seats = 48 have been shown without the breakup of MS + AIR seats and no mention about intake of mgmt seats. .I presume 15 % of 48 = 7 shall be the AIR quota this time which would be the same as last yearsOMS quota. Had the seats been distributed taking into account that Xaviers is now a minority institute (since 11th June 2008 as per their website), the AIR seats would have been 2 or 3 only. Does this mean that Xaviers 'minority' tag would not be valid for this year???? may be because the notification of Xaviers being a minority institute was released only on 11th June'08. This change in the status may be reflected in next years seat distribution pattern????.I hope I am correct in my understanding. In short, I need to know the number of AIR seats this year ::: whether 3 or 7!!!!!!!

Please help me by confirming this thru your sources. May be, if you are going to the college, please get the same confirmed from the college authorities.Kindly excuse me for taking you all for granted and troubling you again.

Thanks

Regards

Rajati

PS : I am attaching relevant notification released by DTE which created all the confusion. These are in Marathi :
