I once again quote I have great respect as regards to the way xaviers conducts... rightly said saving ma bugs (it was not abt 1,000/- bug but intensity shown regards to value that they wanna carry.)
and even had no doubt of any backlog in any streams or smthng.....
But the fact I wanna put is out of 60 seats... you have 30-31 minority seats & 12 mgmt seats in all 42-43 seats will be under the mgmt. control (should say Director control)... and even on remaining seats I have no doubts they will be securing the needed seat through back door as I mentioned in earlier posts.... so really nothng left for people like me to get into institute like xaviers.... even with reasonably good score.... (I also know black money selling of possibly all institute which are there.... which probably sets xaviers apart....) But with even this part of choosing people on basis of preferences and choices is also wrong...... this really puts the whole CONCEPT OF MMS apart.... (I guess you know why was MMS initiated in Maharashtra.....).....
Even saying we are very particular regards to academic or anythng... they should also realise tht there will be other things to look in... anywayz....
the BOTTOMLINE is I and just like me many of aspirants are out of the race.... because of the reason well known.....
I even take this opportunity to thanks u all seniors,
u r damn supporting, caring and motivating.....
U all are really representing the culture xaviers is carrying..... (Leaving other things as it is)......

I have just realised the impact of 'minority' status of Xaviers may have on my 'admission' chances. In 2006, the OMS seats were =9, 2007=7. With the minority status 2008 = ?????
Please help me find this number. Also in 2006 only CAP I was centralised, the rest of the admission was done at college level. Did they take any OMS candidates on merit after the CAP I round? My feeling is that they would allot only 3 or 4 seats for OMS this time. Please find this from the college.
In 2006 CAP I cut-off for the Ist 3 applicants was 175 (for OMS). This years rankings are tracking 2006 scores. Please analyse my chances of getting thru XAVIERS.
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards
Rajati | Well Rajati,
Honestly i don't have much idea about the all India CET rankings and how many students from it actually are desperate for an mba this year.
I feel there would be close to 3 seats at max for OMS.
Even if we consider 10% of the total seats through dte it comes up to only 2 seats. [out of 18]
But with 175 why don't you try for the management seats.
I mean you do stand a very good chance there.
Besides if you think you stay far off and would not be able to procure the forms then you could speak to the director over the phone and sort things out.
Plz get back.
Bye.

Please advice and thanx in adv. | Hi Pratham,
Well going by last years ranks, yes Xavier had students with ranks in the range of 800 - 1200.
But this year the ranks are expected to go higher as the seats have reduced.
The scores in the range of 150-160 are all on the fringes and anyone could make it.
Each rank has close to 50-60 candidates !!
So Pratham while do stand a decent chance (based on last years data), really even i'm very confused as to how things will proceed as a lot has changed from last year.
Honestly Pratham and everyone else.....even i'm skeptical right now in giving out advice as a lot has changed from last year and it's your career that is at stake and i don't want to be the culprit here by saying something incorrect.
So please plan for the worst but expect the best.
All the best for that.
I know this post doesn't help you much but really all i'd suggest is to try to make a list of colleges and prioritize it based on your needs and apply to them and hope it turns out to be good.

Hi Dhaval, Firstly thanks for your appreciation. Furthering the discussion.. (should say Director control)... I’d suggest that you please don’t base your inferences on any prejudices you’ve heard or seen. If you know the process in Xavier you’ll know who controls what. even with reasonably good score.... that’s the problem Dhaval it’s reasonably good score from your perspective but from the college’s point of view they are comparing you with the 300 odd forms already issued. And as the bargaining power lies with them they can do what they feel like. You or I can complain at will. You probably know why MMS was initiated. But the problem is that even today the MMS is at the initiation stage and refuses to progress beyond that point. Hence a lot of loopholes in the system have to be exploited which like you pointed Xavier is and will. Why blame Xavier after all it’s the university that has framed these very rules during their initiation. Honestly my tone isn’t argumentative because I’m happy you’ve raised such issues. But then again I’d like to tell you that even if students below the cut-off have been issued forms it will be really tough for them to make the cut as we intend to raise our final cut-off as high as we could. Eventually it’s basic economics when Demand is more than Supply Prices rise!!! Bye. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Mangola For This Useful Post: | | | | | |
