Sir, thanks so much. I did call the college and spoke to some Ms Priscilla (got her name from a post). She gave me the name " Villa Theresa Girls Hostel" at Peddar Road. I was able to find the tel from the net. They said they do not give accomadation to students (only for working women).
I have no contact details of "sanchita" .Is she a Xaviers student? How can I speak or contact her? I have not read the detailed rules of this thread? Can I give my email?
Thanks in anticipation

Seniors, Priyanka Dhignra, RButhello , Mangola :
Good afternoon!!! .This is my first post. I am an OMS candidate with an overall CET score of 175 and All India Rank 238. All this while I was hoping to get into PUMBA . With the provisional results out, I know I would not get through Pumba. I have read all the posts(about XIMR) posted on this thread till now. I would be greatful to you if you could reply to the following querries :
1) With my AIR 238 , do I stand a chance to get through XIMR? XIMR has been awarded ' minority' status. Would this affect the OMS merit list also? I mean would the cut-off's for OMS candidates also increase?
2) Apart from XIMR, are there any other decent options which I could look at?
3) Being a female(from Delhi), my parents are very concerned about my boarding/lodging at Mumbai. Please let me know the options available for staying. Being a north Indian , are there any north Indian 'dabba' system. ? Could you please put me through
some of your batchmates who could help me on this issue. I would like to be at a place which has a quiet atmosphere suitable for studies. Any hostel or a pg with not more than 2 girls in a room is what I would ideally look for. Without proper arrangement of staying and food, it may be very difficult for me utilise the opportunity of studying at XIMR!!!
Please HELP!!! Also let me know the expenses for such an arrangement.
4) I am particularly interested in HR. I hope this specialisation has a decent faculty.
5) You all have been with XIMR for an year or more. Please let me know the how has XIMR grown over this period. Also your projected perception of XIMR , lets say by 2010?
6) I understand that XIMR comes under Mumbai University. So all colleges under Mumbai Univ shall have the same subjects? Also the questions papers for all colleges
would be the same? Am I correct on this please?
7) I presume the fee at XIMR is approx Rs.70,000/- per year? Is there any other fee also to be paid?
Being in Delhi it is very difficult for me to find answers and solutions to the above querries.
Hence I request you to please reply to the querries at the earliest.
I know I have thrown a volley of querries on you, but I do not have any other means to get information on the above issues!!!!!!! Please excuse me for taking this liberty.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Rajati | Oh my god.. I replied to your post and just the minute I submitted it, I got dc..oh my god.. Anyways here I go again.. Dear Rajati Firstly profuse apologies for replying so late. Have been caught up, lately.. Now to answer your queries.. 1. Minority status signifies less seats in the open and oms category.. so according to me the cut off for the oms category may just go up. But I wish you all the best. Lets see what happens. 2. Pass me on your id..i may be able to get you in touch with some of my batch mates who live as paying guests or in hostels.. 3. I would suggest do not worry about the faculty. That is the management’s job and as far as I am concerned, I think they do a fairly good job at that. 4. XIMR does come under the surveillance of Mumbai University MMS program. So the subjects and the syllabi are the same. However each institute sets in own question paper and the correction is internal( in the first year) . in the second year, some subjects are the university subjects hence all the institutes under the university write for the same question paper and the correction is also done by the university. Other subjects in the second year, are under the institute only. If you have any more queries please feel free to shoot them at us. Do not hesitate. Regards Priyanka Dhingra XIMR | | | | | | | |

Hello Guys,
Well out of the city for my internships the last 4 days...
Sorry Rajati,Deepali,Poonam, dhaval and others for not being riposte...
Well i'm astounded that so much has happened here the last 4 days..
Anyways will post some more info tomorrow.
Ciao.
---------
Right now just wanted to say one thing to Dhaval (Referring to your post dated 24th).
The college just saved your 1000 bucks.
They could have easily accepted your form and not given you admission on any basis decided by them.
So much for transparency.
Since they know that a certain number of students have come above the mark they are increasing the cut-offs and yes as you rightly pointed out it is also a sign to the other students(below the cut-off who have managed to procure a form) that it is more difficult for them to get in as well. | | | | | | | |

Rajati | Hi Rajati,
Well at your score i think you stand a good chance of making it.
And about accommodation... well as my colleague Reuben stated earlier Bombay is much safer than up north (Wonder what's going on in Noida !!!)
And you will find a place for sure.
And well you can speak to a few girls in our class as well. (hope Priyanka has given you the details in that regard)
And as Reuben said..please give us some time.
College is not on yet, we are all into our last week of summers and have to complete a lot of work before college commences.
We'll do our best to keep you updated.
Thanks and it's your queries that keep such posts from becoming info hubs for many others.
Bye. | | | | | | | |

I wish to thank you,Priyanka,Reuben and all seniors who have been so responsive. I guess such an attitude only goes to show the 'real' education you all may have experienced while at Xaviers. My best wishes all .
Meanwhile I would be waiting for the details of as requested . I can understand your pre-occupation.
Thanks once again

Seniors, Priyanka,Mangola and Reuben:
I have just realised the impact of 'minority' status of Xaviers may have on my 'admission' chances. In 2006, the OMS seats were =9, 2007=7. With the minority status 2008 = ?????
Please help me find this number. Also in 2006 only CAP I was centralised, the rest of the admission was done at college level. Did they take any OMS candidates on merit after the CAP I round? My feeling is that they would allot only 3 or 4 seats for OMS this time. Please find this from the college.
In 2006 CAP I cut-off for the Ist 3 applicants was 175 (for OMS). This years rankings are tracking 2006 scores. Please analyse my chances of getting thru XAVIERS.
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards
