Seniors, Priyanka Dhignra, RButhello , Mangola :
Good afternoon!!! .This is my first post. I am an OMS candidate with an overall CET score of 175 and All India Rank 238. All this while I was hoping to get into PUMBA . With the provisional results out, I know I would not get through Pumba. I have read all the posts(about XIMR) posted on this thread till now. I would be greatful to you if you could reply to the following querries :
1) With my AIR 238 , do I stand a chance to get through XIMR? XIMR has been awarded ' minority' status. Would this affect the OMS merit list also? I mean would the cut-off's for OMS candidates also increase?
2) Apart from XIMR, are there any other decent options which I could look at?
3) Being a female(from Delhi), my parents are very concerned about my boarding/lodging at Mumbai. Please let me know the options available for staying. Being a north Indian , are there any north Indian 'dabba' system. ? Could you please put me through
some of your batchmates who could help me on this issue. I would like to be at a place which has a quiet atmosphere suitable for studies. Any hostel or a pg with not more than 2 girls in a room is what I would ideally look for. Without proper arrangement of staying and food, it may be very difficult for me utilise the opportunity of studying at XIMR!!!
Please HELP!!! Also let me know the expenses for such an arrangement.
4) I am particularly interested in HR. I hope this specialisation has a decent faculty.
5) You all have been with XIMR for an year or more. Please let me know the how has XIMR grown over this period. Also your projected perception of XIMR , lets say by 2010?
6) I understand that XIMR comes under Mumbai University. So all colleges under Mumbai Univ shall have the same subjects? Also the questions papers for all colleges
would be the same? Am I correct on this please?
7) I presume the fee at XIMR is approx Rs.70,000/- per year? Is there any other fee also to be paid?
Being in Delhi it is very difficult for me to find answers and solutions to the above querries.
Hence I request you to please reply to the querries at the earliest.
I know I have thrown a volley of querries on you, but I do not have any other means to get information on the above issues!!!!!!! Please excuse me for taking this liberty.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi XIMR'iians,
Friends today I visited XIMR for Mgmt. Quota Form, and wht I came accross was SHOCKING.....
firstly, when I went to Admin Office and asked 4 Mgmt. Forms, 1 good fellow (not in admin, must b Prof.) came and asked me about my score..... I said 152.... He said me sorry You can't apply... cut off is 155....... Puyz this was shocking.... just when they recd. 200 odd application cut-off has increased.......
I said I had call earlier, the lady said cut-off is 140, then generous lady allow me to see Director......
Then after 1-1 1/2 hour of waiting, Respected Vaidu (or smthng I forgot his name )..... 1st asked ma score then came to acads, then Work Ex..., and dismissed my case saying not good academics... Guys don't they understand some of the people can have genuine problems...... anywayz but this also draws me the other way of it.......
Xaviers now have 30-31 seats under minority, 12 seats under mgmt quota... out of 60 odd seats 4 MMS.....
so in this 42-43 seat Mr. Director has its control (should say ruling) of selecting students on its will. This is not enough there is other story to it. Out of remaining seats for open category... People who have score above 155 will also be made to apply through CAP Round.... so they will might also get through there.. and vacant the Mgmt seat from here.. so that respected Director can have more and more sorted STUDENTS.....
This draws me the fact that student below 155, without mgmt and minority seats have slim chance of getting in.....
This is called PLANNING & EXECUTING ....... unconventional but lesson to be learnt.....

If you don't mind, can you plz share your academic details? The Director had also commented on my low HSC marks but nonetheless allowed the admin to issue the form for me.
I am quite surprised with this increase in cut-off... What about the students below the mark of 155 and have already been issued the forms? Are the further rounds only going to be a formality? Ideally, they should be sticking to one cut-off...
Seniors/Any1 at rescue???

Regards,
Punam | Ya sure, SSC 59, HSC 64, ya I agree it is low... but again there are other things to look at....
To be honest to you.... even that Lady at desk said that we have recd. more application from 155 and above (than expected) so they might have thought otherwise....
Anyway you would come to know only after CAP round.... but things will be the way as I stated earlier.... and In case if you are less than 155... the only possible way which seems is Mgmt. quota or minority quota....
because as earlier mention 20 people above 155 and 200 in all above 140...
so these 155 n above will also go for open CAP rounds....
anywayz whts ur score n academic background....

Regards,
Punam | Through CAT then u guys will have GD/PI atleast (I think).....
my advice to you (If i can)... crack GD/PI, otherwise very slim chance....
And things will happen the way I have said.... even the seniors can quote their remarks as the case even in last year was......
Even I had work ex of almost 3 yrs. in Finance... but he said wants only listed company... I once again quote that mine was the case of over response to Institute (then expected)... and the desire of Respected Vaidu (or smthng I forgot his name) to have STUDENTS OF HIS CHOICE...
All the best and God bless to u n others......

I am not sure abt 160 being cutoff becoz i had been to college today.before going i called up and they asked me my score. My score is 156. they told me to come and meet director.
After entering i was told to meet director. He first asked me abt acads and work ex.
Then came the most interesting part. He asked me y had u taken break frm job(i had taken break as i had suffered from slip disc). I told him the truth. He said "Slip Dissc is not a big deal.Aaj kal toh bachhon ko bi hoti hi"I was scratching my hair. Was left baffled . Man bacchon ko kab se slip disc hone lagi. then i expalined him that i was almost on verge of operation and was on bed rest for 2 months. Finally found that convincing and issued form to me.
but importantly he mentioned that cutoff for CET is 150(i believe with good profile as well since he was stressing a lot on it as well) and they wud be preferring CAT/XAT over CET and people with work ex.
Had a good 1hr there. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
