A good curious question Prachi.

The answer to that is a BIG NO.

Reason is ... we are the mba branch and we prefer to not project ourselves as the funky Xavier that the outside world relates to.
Our director makes it compulsary to go on an education/experiential outing during that period ... 12th August to 15th august (That's when malhar is always held (14th and 15th))
This year we are going to Matheran, the adventure trip has already been booked and the college pays every penny of the trip !!!!

That ensures that we don't participate in malhar and do something meaningful instead...
The incoming batch joins a day after malhar (Last year we joined on 16th ).. so that ensures that they also miss it !!!

Hope that does not deject you..
(but if you are a good performer, you can always take permission from the director to miss the trip and perform at malhar.... the intention is not to stop students from participating but to focus more on accads and not move away from that aspect)

Yes sidd i tried through my friend but she couldn't get the reqd info as our director was not in college yesterday.

I did post yesterday that the forms will be given after the 15th of june.

Tomorrow i am going to pay my fees for next year and i'll look closely into it.
Don't worry ... i'll remember your case and i'll surely have a word with our director regarding that.

Nowayz,what a fool ill b to miss my exciting trip fr malhar haha.im not that crazy for malhar been thre once.so only 1 educational trip in a year?
i know i shouldnt b asking fr more than 1 but im a BMS grad n i know INDUSTRIAL VISITS are FUN . In my graduation time,i have been to Daman.Goa etc.
but i know MMS is abt gettn more serious in life.
Tell us sumthing that u all do other than project,presentation.

Hey but don't get me wrong... that does not mean that we're immersed in our books all the time...
We also organize our alumni meets which happens on an ongoing basis...
Then a few students are incharge of the website (our website is done completely by the students)
We make our own brochures, magazines, participate in important events (XIMR was the only other college after Somaiya's that represented Mumbai and booked a direct entry this year at CONFLUENCE... (IIM-A's festival)).
We usually do not participate in mumbai university colleges' fests.

So yes we do have events and creative sessions but mebbe they are different and not on a large scale...
But it largely depends on how interested you and your classmates are...

We're proactive... See what i mean !!!
Next...On 14th we have a big alumni meet coming up...
Xavier .. though new to MMS is not new to management...
We had a management course running since 1971..
It's only that last year we became affiliated to the dte.

So we have a huge chunk of alumni (2nd only to JB mebbe)
and the recent plan was to tap them so that we can have better placements (see what i meant when i said we'd be aggressive this year)
And the students are handling all of it from scratch.. inspite of having lectures 9 to 9.

So that's one aspect we are looking into very seriously as of now..

Well one trip .... and of course we go rural for marketing as well..... please check out the links I provided on the previous page..

This year we had been to Tara, Talasari, Roha, Chakkan, Manmad,Shirpur, (in batches of course) as part of CSR activities and to study rural marketing ...

So that makes it 2 trips from the college..
And of course the weekly students' trips to marine drive, movies and all the exciting places around bombay are always there...

We also do a few other live projects like surveying the cops, Visiting NGOs (for marketing purposes) etc as well

thats gr8,n the way u all r working wid aggression,passion i think we will c XIMR in the top 5 in the next few years to come.ilb having Ximr in my top 5 preference n i really hope i get thru .

Well our target was top 3 in the next 5 years... (my director will kill me if he see's that line.. according to him our course has no match... but well he would never understand the students mindset and how we look and compare things and how unnecessarily competitive we are...)

Anyways for that to happen we'll need excellent students like you to ensure that the good work continues and is magnified even more...
