The Elements..... - 25-09-2005, 09:24 AM

Hey Guys...

With the End terms over , we are all free now to do our mind and witness one of the best events at our school... TATVA .Tatva is an inter b-school summer project competetion .As first year students ,it's a treat to our knowledge banks. With so many apprehensions about what lies ahead for the summers next year, the event is indeed enlightening. We had the marketing rounds yesterday studs from OUR school , IIM A,L,C,FMS,MDI,TAPMI and other b-schools were here to show us their efforts in their summer projects.
I tell you people its a long journey ahead... theres so much to learn... we have all the resources.. I guess its now upto us to make the best of them!

Adios!

"sleep" a commodity in a B School - 25-09-2005, 12:26 PM

it's not the way u think will be done, it is the how u justify what has already been done. can u justify that sleeping less will pay better dividents to u.
hmmnnnnn........ ya...... sometimes......... this certainly not a B Graduate reply.

sleep is a commodity (something for which the demand- supply curve fits well) for a B School grad. demand for sleep is always more than the supply. and equilibrium is reached at the expense of morning breakfast.
i had my first sunday breakfast today. for the guys like me- it is aaloo puri along with jalebi on sunday.

"end term over, then sleep. kya karoon neend hi nahin aa rahi hai". it has become a life style stereotype now.
jokes apart, kudos to imt's G performance yesterday. 3 events running simultaneously. a company for summers, tatva and a seminar on logistics. all coducted well as per scheduled. good...

good that we can manage even the sleepless nights to set a mark for others.

b...byeie
& gud nite.......

hai,

ur guess was right.i'm from south india(hyd).thats the reason why i had this confusion.actually,i'm a student of TIME,hyd.we were provided with a list of top B-schools in india.categorised as TOP,A+,A,B+,...etc.both iit, madras and imt, ghaziabad were included in the A category.
well,if you say that IMT,ghaziabad is always better that IIT,Madras.then i'll always prefer IMT.
wht is ur suggestion, now?pls let me know.

So far only IIT Mumbai and IIT Delhi have been able to establish a reputation as B-schools, when you talk of MBA, industry interface is very important and you really cant expect that a technical institute would have a better base than a traditional B-school.. i agree though that the brand name of IIT would sooner or later pull in the big corporates( read non IT companies) but for the moment I cant really expect it to be.
Now take the case of IMT , 25 yrs of business education to its credit ,one of the famous names in the B-school circuit and though i dont really trust the magazine ratings(where we have been ranked 8th in the country), i cant deny that we have been going up steadily of late with a lot of aggressive development taking place
Our alumni base includes biggies like Prasoon Joshi (thanda matlab coca cola fame), Rajiv Karwal ( Ex-CEO Electrolux) ,Subhinder Singh Prem (MD Reebok India) etc..
Besides these factors ,the quality of management students that you would get at IMT would be much better than that at IIT Madras and I can say that with so much confidence because you dont find the best of students joining IIT madras for MBA and add to it that the selection process whichis through JMET which features fairly low in competetion in comparison to CAT. IMT had the cut off of 96 percentile last this year which means that our batch has students who feature in the top 4% of the 1,60,000 people who took the CAT last year.

I can still understand your confusion in case you are from the southern part of the country
where not many shools from the north are known well.
The choice however is yours. your career ... the next 30 odd years of your life... You decide..

All the best!

Hi again Swetha...

Nice knowing that you are from Hyderabad... have been to the place a couple of times and liked it too!

well as for my suggestion ,I'd say its IMT.. i left NMIMS,XIM-B,TAPMI and MICA for IMT..so that shows how much i beleive in this.

I hope you take a wise decision...

All the best!

Fly North!!! - 27-09-2005, 01:18 AM

Hey...this is for aspirants from south India..there is no need for u guys to feel apprehansive about relocating to Ghaziabad. We have plenty of people from Kerala,TN,Andhra and Karnatka in our batch, and they are having a rocking time at IMT.If you want to get in touch with them, just PM me,and I'll give u a few E-mail IDs.Or you can PM Whydoesithappen2me(Srinath),who is from Hyderabd or Unseen(Ranjith),who is from Kochi, and address your reservations to them....Don't settle for a college just because it's closer to home.

-Good Luck

Hi Suds!
Well great to have an alumnus here contributing to the thread...!
A lot has changed ever since we joined the institute ,we have a new library , a revamped basket ball court ,more class rooms and the campus has turned even more beautiful!
The only sad change is that our favourite canteen ( the one near the acads block ) is defunct now.We now use the Georgia cafe at DLP which is open through the night.
The schedule has also turned a lot more rigorous with the Online learning and training system in place. and yeah... we now have midterms along with 4 quizzes per subject before we have the end terms!

Iam Saad (B-TOP), a JAC member and would soon talk to you and other people from your batch since Iam handling your batch now.
Please keep us informed about all thats happening around which you find relevant for us.
Thanx a ton for writing in!

Cheers

hi all
hello swetha,me frm hyd too.i still miss the days i spent at eat street.

well i was a time student too.how r rkp and arvind sir..

coming to ur quest...
iitm vs imt is a no contest..
i agree imt has a low brand equity down south mainly becoz of TIME which puts it in a category with iitm etc.
but whn i got calls frm a few institutes lik mica, ximb, tapmi, imt i had asked rkp sir the order and he said imt hands down,
we hav a very cool gang frm south who go out to eat masala dosa and sambhar quite regularly..

hope u will join us next yr

all the best

any more q's
