hm first of all YES SIBM is AICTE approved actually it comes under the deemed university of SIEC and to this i think even SCMHRD is also not included that means we are a deemed university approved by AICTE
to the dude who wanted to talk to me i think i am being projected in a wrong way i am not all that gunda types if u r thinkin and coming to your question of Symbiosis being printed in the magazines, as far as i think its SIBM cos of the apparent reasons of it being the deemed univ and the oldest insitute in this umbrella of Symbiosis and let me correct you SIBM initially started of with a course called PM personal management which later on changed to Hr and that is why in almost 40% of the companies in india you will find somebody from SIBM in the top level management and specially in the HR department....yup thats true SCMHRD is known for its HR and might enjoy some more visibility in the eyes of the teachers at the various management training institutes which passes on to the students. the only reason i can find to justify this is might be cos of the fact SCMHRD offers a residential course which obiously is very advantageous in my eyes but we will be going to a new campus probably next year so this so called perception is going to change..........
any more questions are invited.....

As far as HR is concerned, SCMHRD was started relatively recently, and is doing well.SIBM has been around now for around 30 years, and seniority counts.SIBM has absolutely fantastic HR education, as well as placements.Marketing too is nw developing at a fab rate.
And dudes and dudettes, the one limitation we had(infrastructure development when you are surrounded by buildings in the heart of pune), will be soon solved when we will move to the fantabulous sprawling campus just touching pune.A fully wi-fi enabled campus, with whatever it takes to produce the best managers!!
Any more doubts, then please feel free and fire away...

I'm sorry Mr. Lecter, but it actually took me a while to figure out that you are a student at SIBM ( or are you????)
I mean it was confusing the way you were saying "we selected candidates from XAT"....
Anyway, keep up the good work for the benefit of the next batch....

If yes will their be a problem pursuing futher studies after doing MBA frm SIBM say FPM frm IIM-A or doctoral pgms frm US uni |
Rest your fears Sire, through a check on the indian government site for recognised central, state, and deemed universities, you would find our name listed as a deemed university.
THAT means, not only would we NOT have problems pursuing a fellowship or PhD at ANY university or institute, but also that WE can and have the authority to AWARD PhDs and fellowships as and when we deem fit.
The concern is appreciated and duly reciprocated,
Cheers!!

Bhonpu (Shiv) | Hey there shiv!
Let me assure you, I am very much a student here at SIBM.By " we selected..." I meant to speak frm the side of my insti. You see, here, the boundaries between us (the students), and the insti(SIBM) are very vague. We are too involved in the functioning of our insti in mvarious ways....we feel synonymous with SIBM, and thus probably that error you mentioned.
Rest I hope, is all great and cheerful at your end..
Regards,
Lecter.

This thread seems to have gone dead , ce n'est pas ?
Who better than MOI to revive it
Guys i would love to hear your frank opinions on SIBM
What have we gained in the three months that we have spent here?
In Maru's test last week , the majority of us expressed their true feelings about the insti
It would be really good if we expressed those similar sentiments out here
Lets not be hypocrits and be honest ,we owe to the PG community
Cheers!
P.S : Here's for starters , a quote from Moon Struck

thanks | Hey divi!!
Its great to know that you are interested in Symbi...And we would love to help you out.I am really sorry that we couldnt reply earlier, but here goes...
See, the Symbi family consists of a few management institutes, namely(from the top of my mind, in no particular order):
SIBM
SCMHRD
SIMS
SIIB
SITM
SIOM
Out of these, SIBM abd SCMHRD are the general management institutes with your regular specialisations etc.SITM is for Telecom Management, SIIB is for Iternational business, SIOM is for OPerations management, and SIMS is for defence personnel and relatives of the same.
SIBM is the oldest amongst them, and has a good record since some 30 years, and has a very good value in the corporate world.SCMHRD is comparatively new, and is also doing well.
SCMHRD has two campuses, 1)Hinjewadi, Pune and 2)Nashik campus. The strength of the batch is 250-275(only at pune, nashik not counted, as i am not sure of thta figure)
SIBM has one campus, currently at S B Road, Pune, but is soon shifting to a new 100 acre sprawling RESIDENTIAL campus, having the place all to itself. The current batch strength is 120 for regular MBA, and 40 for Foreign students.SIBM also offers a Marketing Communications degree, (quite similar to what MICA, Ahemdabad offers) and the strength of that batch is 40. The regular course offers a dual degree in any one of the four streams, being Marketing, HR, Finance, and Operations. They also plan to add systems as another option.
SITM, SIOM, and SIIB are specialised schools for a focussed study on a few specific areas like telecom, operations, etc.
This is what i have for now in a nutshell, and for more info, just shoot!!
Lecter.

hey its been ages since i lasted in this thread....well the only obvious reason being the thngs really getting hectic in college....with the those looooooooong forms to fill up and those internal exams.....its amazing how you can actually try to use throw some jargons and get caught, finally the age old jalebi making habit coming to rescue especially in subjects like financial management....sometimes wnder just to how much issues are there behind just to make ur assets and liabilities match....good for the corporate sector that i am not taking finance otherwise i could see another EN***E coming......anyways its free night today feels like saturday night with the kind of plans coming up...actually just another time to get totally stoned and drunk......till then peace evryone.........
