So it does. As a new batch of students joins SIBM... and I am one.
Induction is going on now, to continue till the end of the week...
Ideas, hopes, apprehensions, illusions... God knows what is going through my head right now.
Well... one thing is for sure. Whether I succeed... or fail (now that is something I'll have to work towards, as that's what my teachers say...) I'm already well known amongst my batchmates.
My antics in irritating members of the opposite gender has already made me notorious among them... and my (absence of any) knowledge of many matters has made me well hated amongst my own kind.
More importantly, the huge PG sticker on my laptop has announced to SIBM that here is a person who is addicted to PaGaLGuY... no doubts there.
Lets just hope my association with PG does not end here... and neither does it with SIBM... and may there be a symbiotic relationship amongst all...

Grondmaster

Here we are...
Just hanging over from last night's freshers... Pancard Clubs taken over by 300 mad SIBMites... we had to find a date amongst our seniors... smart people like me went stag!
Buses started leaving at 8.30, and went on till late. Returning, I got home at 4. Back in college to do some presentation work, to be submitted tomorrow.
Now that the year begins, its ok as long as there's not much to do outside the lectures... but when it rains, it pours. And I'm still awaiting results of the team interviews for Media & ASR... once I get in either, work's gonna pour in...
Life begins in full flow at SIBM... two years more...

Grondmaster

Ok...had to put this one up...
Am attaching a pic of the freshers (God... why'd it take me a month get my hands on it?????)
The person (and the only one at that) who's wearing a PG tee... on the left of the pic... is yours truly.

Re: Life @ SIBM -

Many people (PGites & others, and SIBMites as well) have complained that this thread is well overdue for an update. What can I say??
I leave home at 8.30, have a cuppa at the canteen, and start attending lectures at 9. Lunch break is at 2.15, by which time we are so royally famished that anything else is out of the question, except lunch. Lectures end at 5.30, by which time we are neck deep in research work to get our presentations and other projects back in line. Not that there are many - but the ones that we do have require a lot of research. Google zindabad...
Leaving for home at around 8, we rarely have any power left to even chat. At home, we just crash. In fact, my orkut profile shows my location as 'Oscillating between bedroom & classroom, with a few visits to the bathroom in between'. Where can I find time to update? I just about have enough time to visit PG and spend some time on SB, as is.
Life is quite hectic, but that does not mean we do not enjoy our studies. We actually look forward to many subjects, and there are many where we actually put in extra efforts to ensure we'll understand what's being taught. As Marcom, we're waiting for some coordination between the college & industry to complete, so that we can visit a few firms for onhand experience of communications & operations. Oh, by the way, we have weekly lectures on 24 different topics, forming the core of about 11 subjects.
Books like 'Goal' are recommended reading, and Marketing Management by Kotler is the bible, which has to be read religiously. My friends in the dual MBA have been given the ruling that by end of sem I, they have to have read Kotler atleast thrice.
Enough gyaan for today. Will write some more topical points later. Soon.

Harshal

Over a month and a half gone!
Can't even believe it... As the water levels start rising towards my nose, I think of this thread, and of updating it... pairon par kulhadi maarne wale ka toh suna tha... kulhadi par pair marnewala pehla dekha...
Hmmm... so what's happened in the past few weeks? Case Studies, Presentations, Surprise Tests (Yeah - they do exist here as well!!) and a lot more. Preparing for our summer interviews, and getting over with the remaining portion of the syllabus. For some subjects, HR & Mktg. included, we have to pick up a topic and teach it to the class - the teacher will give in inputs now and then, as required. Else the floor is yours.
Did it for HR (Selection process) and Mktg. (Positioning - now I know why Kotler is king), yet to do for Ethics & Stats.
Also had Summit SIBM in the middle - you must've seen the banner ads on PG - PG was online BSchool partner. Handled every technical aspect of the show myself, all alone. The one break I took resulted in a major glitch - the speaker wasn't able to present his videos. Had to leave my lunch and rush to the audi.
Have gotten used to sleeping near to 2 hours only a day - a great achievement for someone used to nearly 10.
That's enough rant for today. Hope Chinmay, Anshul, Gauri, Manish, and the intermittently pagal others find something to say as well...
Regards,
Harshal

Hi Nitish...
Well, it is your call whether you want to go do your job or start your MBA. Of course, if you want to do an MBA in communication, then realise that the workex in MUL will not help other than giving weight to your CV. And that helps only if the workex is more than 12 months.
More than MUL, I'd suggest you go for working in an Ad Agency/Marketing firm, so that you get the relevant experience for your MBA. It'll help in your placements as well.

Harshal
