What Next? - 15-01-2008, 09:31 PM

Junta,

Saw quite a few irrelevant posts on this thread.

My request - There are dedicated threads for doing the never ending number crunching on the expected cutoff of SNAP 2007. You are at the wrong place.

With Neev and Final Placements over, so what's next @ SCMHRD?

I can't say that for the seniors but for the juiniors, Yes. Tons of FCQs and assignments..In fact, the honeymoon of juniors will continue till the admissions process i.e first week of Feb and thereafter the real saga of SCMHRD, the boot camp will begin..These 2 months till the end terms will make the first sem seem like a bed of roses..
Courtesy: Our beloved exam dept.

I know juinors have got seasoned by now and my intention is not scare them. i am just stating the facts

As far as the placements go, can't talk about that here.
As expected it is better than last year. The best part was the assortment of cos coming this year, in terms of sectors. Thus, it fulfilled the aspirations of many 'career switchers'. Official stats will be put up on the website in a short while, for public consumption.

We seniors are probably enjoying the last real BREAK of our lives. ok..ok I know end-terms are just around the corner..

Many of us are now in the introspective mood..Things like 'Has my objective of doing an MBA been fulfilled', 'What is my takeaway from these 2 'roller coaster' years of life?' are coming to our minds. And believe the answers are not straight forward. Sigh...

Because all said and done, we all came here for something more than just a six/seven figure salary.

May we all succeed (whatever that means) beyond our dreams.

Amen

Batch of 2008 signs off - 03-05-2008, 01:19 PM

We, the batch of 2008, bid adieu to SCMHRD on 20th April. The ocassion was not convocation but a commencement ceremony, to mark the commencement of our career but was actually a technicality to be observed for being a part of the university.

But our insti, especially our director, didn't leave any stones unturned to make this a memorable ocassion. Around 120 of the 167, turned up for the festivities. The build up to the ocassion was marked by a lot of speculation on whether there will be black gowns & who will be the chief guest et al. Around 40% of the students brought their parents/guardians to show around what they did in these 2 yrs of life.

And finally all the arrangements surpassed our expectations. This is probably the only event in the calendar of SCMHRD which is organized and managed enitirely by the faculty and staff. And we had to concede that the arrangements were as good as that of Neev or any other of the many student managed shows of SCMHRD.

The process of getting converted from student to alumnus began on 19th evening with dinner and DJ night. People introducing their parents to their daaru buddies and all the girls with whom they have walked the "lap of shame".

First thing on 20th Morning was the photo shoot. We all decked up in our college uniforms for the last time for the grand photo so that we can show it to our grand children. Then, the official ceremony beagn in the audi with the speeches of the dignitaries. Our director's speech was as usual inspiring in its own way. Then all the students went on to the dias to receive their degrees and finally came the much awaited student awards alongwith a valediction speech from the best outgoing student of the batch. A few of them were surprises. Then we broke off and everybody was grinning and posing with their folders and trophies alongwith their friends, classmates, roommates, project mates, booze mate, etc mate. Finally the officail ceremonies ended with a lunch. The high point was the year book made by a couple of our industrious batchmates. It has the pic alongwith a nick name of all of us and some terrific articles on these two awesome yrs @ SCMHRD.

And so SCMHRD became our alma mater. A few of us hanged around for a day or two, partied, clicked pictures of the campus where we have so many memories. Some of us became nostalgic. So curtains came down on another remarkable phase of our lives.

In the meanwhile, before the convocation and after the end terms/vivas, lots of the grps went on trips to places as diverse as Kashmir, Himachal, Kerala, North East and even LoC. The most frequented was of course Goa. Heard that they have got special offers for SCMHRD students. Didn't know there were so many travel freaks in SCMHRD. Some spent their times in a more constructive manner by earning quick moolah by giving 'gyan' (read GD/PI tips) to the already harassed MBA aspirants of the zillions of coaching instis.

ok ok i have rambled a lot.
If you had the patience to read till now, you will be happy to know that this is the last post of mine on this thread and now it is upto our terrific juniors to keep this thread alive and kicking. We know that life @ SCMHRD is and will be never dull. Likewise this thread should reflect the true spirit of SCMHRD.

Cheers,
Rajarshi

Hi Puys@SCMHRD...

Here is a situation. One of my friends want to do MBA now. She has completed her B.Sc Nursing and is interested in MBA with HR as specialization.
  • Is there any restrictions on B.Sc Nursing graduate in doing an MBA at SCMHRD?
  • Assuming that she makes it to SCMHRD, how lucrative will the job options be for her after completing her MBA HR from SCMHRD (Remember she is a Nursing graduate)?
  • Can someone throw some light on management quota seats at SCMHRD? Some links pointing to relevant sites will do.
Awaiting reply from the experienced lot@SCMHRD...

Thanks
NoeL

I guess no one replied, because this question wasn't for this thread. The purpose of this is for current students to talk about their experience in SCMHRD

Oh Sorry Ajay!

If i am not wrong, you coordinated the admission process for 2008-2010 batch for SCMHRD. Anyways, will you be able to direct me to the right thread? Thats is, if you are not able to answer my query!

Re: Life @SCMHRD - 08-10-2008, 05:16 PM

It has been a hectic 4 months since I have landed in this campus far away from the ruckus of the city ,but not so far that you have to chalk out a day trip to get there. When I landed here.i wondered to my heart's content,"what in the heebie-jeebies am i doing here?"But i think that moment was the only moment I got to actually got to think about anything. We rolled our sleeves, pulled up or socks and got to work..still working..There is not a free moment so to say. They keep you occupied in something or the other,be it hospitality, organizing eevents,FCQ's(where you spend half the night figuring wt exam will come and the other half thinking why even bother studying)classes.Name it,we do it here. But it is not without the happy mad, mind numbing sessions of pffaff and just some more general madness to it.Initially I thought its a mad house ,Look hard and you will find some method in madness .just another 10 days and end-sem Exams will hit me like a doe geeting run over by a truck .But That's how life. This place teaches of all things to go on and on and teaches you to push your own limits. The late night walks, cups of chai and endless series watching and also keep your attendance level upto par.Now i feel like i can walk a tight rope in the middle of the night blind-folded.The friends i have made here are brilliant and give you the enthu to push ahead each day .I louwe this place and It rocks!!!!
