Re: Life @ Great Lakes Inst. of Mgmt-Chennai - 07-05-2006, 05:35 PM

Fortunately we got a break for 2 days and plz dont think that we r all chilling out. Our dear Rocky(Macro Economics) gave us a great assignment and we are all scratching heads in doing it. God bless us.
Anyways the assignment is simple:
"A 3 page write up of Indian National Income from 1990-2006".
But, collecting, analysing and interpreting the data is a tough job for all of us as most of us not from commerce or economic bg.
With the help of google and frnds arnd , I came to know abt some useful sites today for economic related details. Listed are a few.
http://www.economywatch.com/index1.jsp
http://www.rbi.org.in
http://finmin.nic.in
http://mospi.nic.in
Other projects we got to finish in the near future are
- Stock analysis using Quantitative techqs
- How would be the economic situation of India by 2025, predict and prepare articles for Economic Times.
- Karma Yoga project (empowering the poor and needy)
As the days goes by we wld be loaded up with more projs. I wish that we all finish the projs on time and learn as much we can.
Signing off.............Vish.

Hi Abhishek,
the situation is much better than the market perception. The official report would be out in a few days time, but I think you can expect more out of the report. This phenomenal success is due the brilliant faculty we have here from thru' out the world. You will definitely see a much more drive and passion in the juntaa(led by Uncle Bala) over here.... if you are feeling I am going too much without answering your simple question, then just hang on for a few days for the placement report to be published.

Hi friend,
Thanks a lot for your kind reply.
could you also lets us know, what courses are offered there?
Which course have you joined?
I know it's exciting to be taught by Uncle Bala, but i can know what specialisations he covers, ..... setting my career plan could be easier and focussed.

Thanx,
Abhishek garg.

Hi Abhishek,
All the courses which you get to hear from the well established b-skools are in place over here. We havent selected our specializations finally as yet, but had to give our possible options three days ago such that the management gets an overall picture of the same. However, ours being a one year program, the way things are treated and the grind of the courses are much more intensive. To know more, visit www.glakes.org where you will get a fair idea about the courses.
