i guess most of the freshers are placed..we have around 18 freshers.. if i am not wrong 3-4 remain.. freshers salaries have ranged between 4.5lpa( take home component including tax) to 7.5 lpa.. on a average a fresher has been able to get anything between 5.5 -6 lpa.

cheers,
Prashanth

hi all,

my friend appeared for GD/PI on 18th feb. He got a mail saying he is on hold. When I called admissions, I was told that he is on waiting list. Is there any diff btwn the two. What are the chances of getting admissions if one is on hold. How many persons are on hold/waiting list on an average. Any light on this pls!!Thanks...

i would advice you to go through the thread before asking the same question..anyways i will repeat it..

after attending the GD/PI a candidate's status will be
a) Selected
b) waiting list
c) On hold

Selected - Congrats !! you are given an admit!!

waiting list has higher priority over hold candidates and means that you have a better chance of getting an admit over a hold candidate.

the process is like this..

some candidates who are selected might not accept as they might have other options or might have to pull out due to personal reasons. in that case the priority next goes to wait list candidates . after the wait list is exhausted and still some seats need to be filled then the hold candidates get a chance.

hope this is clear...

to put it mathematically

Probability ( waitlist candidate getting a final admit) > Probability ( Hold candidate getting a final admit)....

its just a system to sort candidates by performance in their GD/PI..

hope this clarified things..

Prashanth

I am not aware of the statistics of how many people are on WL or hold status..that varies according to numberof candidates and the performance by applicants in GD/PI on the particular day...

nless

see,
there is still a confusion as to whether you guyz will be put up in this campus or a new one.. so i cannot really comment..in case u guyz are still holed up in the existing campus, no need to worry, its a very good residential locality and around 80 of us are staying nearby.. on average assuming that we are talking abt shared rental costs it can vary from 1200 - 2000 per head.. within 5k i think u can manage all expenses including petrol unless u decide to go on weekly hikes..

In case if its gonna be a new campus not too sure, somewhere in perungudi u ppl might be put up..lets see how things how things work out..

cheers,
Prashanth

Hi Prashanth

When should we be expecting a decision on the same...i mean shifting of the building! And how far is the present building from the City Bus Stand -- and what are the modes of commutation available!

Considering the one year structure of the program, are we supposed to do an industrial project along side studies, or do we have some break in between to continue the same. If in case such a project isnt a part of curriculum, does Great Lakes arrange for a similar project if the candidate is interested in doing so!

Thanks and Regards
Manik Kinra

when will the decision be taken..hmmm..i am not the deciding authority
, jokes apart its the mgmt's decision so no clue..

city bus stand..are u referring to koyambedu?? it is approx 5-6 kms from koyambedu.. btw the college is pretty much in the heart of the city so plying from one corner to other should not be a problem..

yup u r supposed to do 2 industrial projects along with your course studies..the college will arrange for it..no issues..i guess in fact for your batch , projects will be of utmost importance..so no worries.. u all will have to slog off during projects..and yeah, the project is a part of the curriculum , in fact each project carries 3 credits..

you dont get a break for the project and you do it simultaneously with your course, so the scope gets a bit limited, but those are trade offs of a 1 year course..

regds,
Prashanth
