Hi All

About The Great Lakes Information Session Yesterday at Bangalore.

It was supposed to be anchored by Proff Bala but due to some issues he could not make it and hence the information session was conducted by Exe Director Proff Sriram - Great Lakes. We also had 3 people (Alumini) from the 1st Batch who are presently working in Bangalore, two of them in Infosys as Associate Consultant and one of them is running his own family business.

It started of with a video , which showed the people involved in Great Lakes,their thoughts, the infrastructure and few statistics. Then Proff Sriram shared a few ppt's after which we had a open house for arund 30 Mins where in Proff Sriram, and the Alumini tried to answer all the ques.

It was a nice session wherein we were able to know the insti,the mission,their vision and their plans more.

Besides a few things that came out of it ....

1. In around another 3-5 years Great Lakes Institute is plannin to start Ph.d at Great Lakes - Yale Center of Research.
2. Though its not finalised but the Batch of 2006-07 is probably going to shift to another location which would be around 3-4 times larger than the present one.
3. The Permanent Campus is going to be ready by Mid next year i.e 2007.
4. Two new permanent faculties have been roped in taking the total to 5. One of them is from Loyola Business School,Chennai and other one is from XLRI, Jamshedpur, with 2 more in pipeline....
5. From 2006-07 there would be a few scholarships for "Deserving Candidates"

Hi Manik,

Thanks for the info. Brief and to the point. I wanted to attend the session but the last one is around 16th of feb and I would be comming down in the lastweek of feb. Good to know abt the session from u.

i have done my schooling from don bosco liluah.
secured 75% in x
86% in XII
then did my bca from christ college bangalore secured 80%
currently wouking with MBT since aug 2004.
gave cat 2003 secured 70%ile.
cat 2004 secured 90.. percentile/
sat 2005 secure 87%

i am coming to calcutta by mid feb hoping to cacth u there.
can u pm me ur tele no?

can u plz intriduce urself in the same way as i did

I am currently working with Gecis as a Team Leader. I have over 4 yrs of work exp. I am interested in GLIM. Although my acads are a bit weak, I think my work exp should make up for it. I plan to giveGET. So, what do u think r my chances? Plz reply soon.

Hi Pinnochio

The Admission Process in Great Lakes involves - Essays,Recommendations,Aptitude Test,Group discussion and Personal Interview. --- Added work experience is an advantage.

In your case, 4 years of work ex as a team lead would definetely help you in increasing your chances to making it to Great Lakes. Buts its entirely on you how yu make full use of this added advantage of work ex.

My Personal Point of view - do good in GD/PI ; you ve a great chance to be in Chennai

I dont think u need 2 worry about yr acads as long as u cn produce good recos and write the essays accordingly. To back ur applicaiton, u do have more dan 4 yrs to work x (so no need to wrry really...).. and start the application process rite away if u r interested(it takes bit of tym to get hold of the recos and write the essays)
Start preparations for GET...

hi guys..
just now i had a talk to one of our seniors. he said as of now 30 - 35 have been placed . the packages offered were from 5.5 - 9.9. lacs p.a.
I couldn't ask him what kind of companies have come and the job profile etc etc...
hope to get some news very soon.
one thing is for sure.. our seniors are rocking.
