Almost 95 per cent of the MBA students from the first batch of Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) have been placed with an average domestic salary of Rs 5.5 lakh. “Of the first batch of 124 students, 95 per cent have been placed, while the rest will be placed in the next two weeks. The salaries (annual) range from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 14 lakh,” said Bala V Balachandran, founder and honorary dean, GLIM. The Godrej group of companies has made the highest number of offers with 13, the others being Infosys with 10, Satyam with nine, TCS with six and HCL with five. Some of the other companies that have already made offers or who are expected to come up with them in the coming week include JP Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, BCG, Microsoft, Deliotte, Accenture, Tata Motors, Murugappa Group, AMP Sanmar and Jet Airways. Internationally three students apiece have been placed in companies in Dubai and China and four in the US. “Except one Indian company based in the US, the rest are all US-based companies. The offers are still being negotiated. One of the companies is expected to make an offer of $180,000,” added Balachandran. Before joining GLIM, the average salary of the students with experience was between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.3 lakh. “GLIM produces highly motivated students who have good prior experience. What’s unique about them is that they get a high level of international exposure at a reasonable price,” said Jamshyd N Godrej, chairman and managing director, Godrej and Boyce and chairman of the board, GLIM, highlighting the unique selling proposition of the management institute. GLIM, for the coming year has tied up with four management institutions to offer exchange programmes for about one to two weeks for their executive MBA programmes. The one to two week exchange programme will also contain meetings with Indian business executives. the average experience of students with work experience has also been increased from three years to between four and four-and-a-half years.

and yeah the figures are not inflated.i have verified it with the seniors. it is expected to rise further with the rise of more % of experienced ppl in the batch. well, with regards to the new campus it shud get obver in all probabilities by next december. so mebbe next batch will have their classes over there but i am still not sure whether u will be having hostel facilities, but believe me guyz the current facility is enuf as we dont have that much time for leisure activities. it is really hectic.

Our courses at Great Lakes - 04-05-2005, 10:55 PM

We have Macroeconomics, Statistical Methods, Financial Accounting, Marketing Management,
Business Communication, Strategic Management, Financial Management and Chinese.

Learning Macroeco has been a mixed bag so far. The prof is GOD. Statistical Methods is good. Other courses haven't started.

Latest at Great Lakes

The CA guys in our batch failed in their 2 hour effort to teach us engineers what Credit is and what Debit is.

The new campus will be ready by December 06. Nevertheless, Great Lakes is bound to go places.

Many freshers have been placed in IT Majors and other companies. The exact details will be available once the placement report is out officially.

As far as preparation for a b school, come in with an attitude to learn and grow, and of course good communication is important. And I would suggest that you get some work exp. ( i do not know ur profile buddy)
