1. How has been your experience so far at GLIM?
I was working as a Software Engineer before coming to Great Lakes. And the learning experiece has been good. I have opted for Finance as my major specialization here. Finance is taught by some well known experts in the field. In my opinion, Great Lakes is one of the best places to learn finance. The institute has lived exceeded my expectations.
2. What about the facilities?
Faculty --> Top rating. A mix of Profs from Harvard, MIT,Yale, Stern, Kellogg and IIMs + Industry Experts
Infrastructure --> Apart from a sprawling campus, hostel and a night canteen, we have everything else. 24hr access to internet. Good Library and many online and offline databases.
3. Howz the course ?
The course has 8 terms. First 4 for the basics and the next 4 for specialisation. Pressure is always there. Especially during the first two terms when students try and come in terms with the academic life. The course is a right mix of case study based and theory based. Classes may be held on Sundays as well. Assignments, presentations, deadlines .... This is a 1 yr course and is meant to be this way.
4.
Do you have summers?
No. We do not have summers at Great Lakes. Being a 1 year course, the schedule does not permit summers.
5. Is it a good program for someone having experience ?
Yes, if you value your time and money and are prepared to commit full yeartime for learning sake and can handle pressure.
6. What type of accommodation is provided for outstation candidates ?
The institute assists in getting accomodation for students in places near the campus. We do not have a hostel as of now. Many of our students have taken accomodation near the college. Accomodation should not be a problem.
7. How many ppl used to apply and how many of them get shortlisted?
The number of seats in a batch is 130. Info regarding the number of applicants for each seat is not disclosed
8. What is the process of admission?
Three stages.
1. Qualifying Examination : CAT/GMAT/GET. We do not have any absolute cut off marks for any of these exams though the marks are given due weightage. And this weightage depends on the background of the applicant.
2. GD/PI : GD and PI are the most important stages in the admissions process. Last year no case studies were given for GD. And each candidate is interviwed by a panel of three, including one from the student community.
3. Final call: Final list (including waitlist) is released at the end of Phase I and II.
9. What about placements?
We had 100% placement last year with an average pay of around 5.5 lpa. We expect the figure to go up for our batch.
10. What are the companies that visited the campus?
Check
here for the placement report for the batch of 2005.
11. Any thing else ?

The management provides the required expertise. Our students have also won many prizes in B School fests this year. This includes a first prize in Operations Case Study contest at IIM-K and in Economic times Case Study contest.
