The bw-cosmode rankings are out.
Heard rumours that we are sixth. MDI is third.
Well it shows the shift from the iims to the non iim's.
Yes its tougher to get in there. No doubt. But what you get out of the place is open for debate. Also probably XLRI's horendous incedents have let to its downfall in rankings, it seems.
Anyways. Till the final rankings are not out for display lets not just beat about the bush with rumours for now.
And since its an open forum, it should not discourage this topic as well. As long as the members show dignity and refrain from demeaning remarks.
The purpose is to discuss the trends displayed by the rankings which are not really a true indicator always of the insti's.
Hope all readers and participants understand this and reply in this spirit.

I'm not surprised if MDI is ranked 3rd. Their faculty is infact 2nd only to IIM A.

BW uses very strong methodology to arrive at figures.

The rankings are finally out officially.... just saw the magazine...

1st - IIM, Ahmedabad
2nd - IIM, Bangalore
3rd - MDI, Gurgaon
4th - IIM, Calcutta

Went thru all rankings.... MDI ranks good at certain parameters... but ranks very bad at some other parameters also....

Well I guess the rankings are slightly inaccurate.
The following points amuse me about our ranking:-
1. We get 0/10 in foreign placements. We are the highest percentage foreign placement institute in the country. Its 11/87. Does that fetch 0.
2. We get low score for classroom aids, ie. computer coverage etc. Its 12.5/20.
You have to come here and see if thats true. Having been to a few insti's I can easily say we are among the best.

That apart I correct myself to state XLRI is at number 5. FMS has not been listed. I had said earlier that Xl was not in the list.

The fact that the good faculty has taken MDI to the top makes it good news for insti's like us.
MDI, XL, IIFT, FMS, SPJ, NITIE etc are giving the IIM's a run for their money. The IIMS do remain among ther very best. But its about time we start to reckon that the cluster of de-creme instituted has widened beyond IIM's.
IIM-I suffers from the fact that the research work is very low, industry interface and feedback is low. Also the resident faculty is very less in number.
This is exactly where IIFT and MDI score over the rest. Great faculty and good industry interface
THE INDUSTRY HAS SHIFTED ITSELF FROM MUMBAI TO THE CORPORATE OFFICES IN GURGAON. That means mumbai's loss is our gain and delhi is becoming the hub for good mba hunters.

The inner first page Number 31 of the september 6th edition of busness world contains the story with an IIFT picture in the backdrop.

On page 34 the picture on top is our pdp area. This is an interaction place and get together place on the insti.The HEXAGON.
Page 58 has our director and hero in real terms Mr. Prabir Sengupta.
Page 60 top has our fabolous classrooms, yes thats my class sitting and
Fr. A.C. Jesurajan (XLRI) is taking our Business Communications class.
and page 63 has our ad. for the next years batch. With our old building photograph at the bottom.
Do go thro the facts whether or not you agree with the facts. Its good inside info on a few of the covered institutes.

I have got a pm from a member asking me to justify my action on the locking of this thread.

It is very difficult to post the reasons without finger pointing.
Well, junta, Think. What kind of sense these rankings are making to you. How do they matter. B skool is all about YOU. not about the skool. YOU have to choose the skool based on what fits you best. It is not the other way round. That is why we have several types of skools with several specializations, curricula, pedagogies, linkages, focuses. Then... how on the earth we can have a single scale to rank all these skools.
Simply put... the rankings game is a crap. <atleast to me :P>

Plus.. as long as the discussion is going on the acceptable lines, we are out here to support it and let you all gain the information you can.
Look at some of the posts... and you will know that there is something terribly wrong in the approach of thread.

This is the PM sequence i got from one of the frustrated nurturers of the thread. For obvious i dont want to reveal his/her name.

I request you to go thro both my earlier posts.
I have always stated the purpose of the posts as an insight rather than a game.
Still if u feel its a propaganda, friend you do need to justify instead if anything controversial has been said in the posts.
Well its fine u lock it, but still I do need your reasons.
Kindly do mention clearly that it is not a portal where aspirants are given an insight into the factfile of b-schools. It was of help to me when I was making up my mind where to apply and which insti to choose.
If that fundamental provision for the aspirants is not to be fulfilled please do not call this a free forum.
At least I thought it was till date.
Im doin this justifying to u sitting doin my assignments side by side at 3 am not to push any weight of my insti forward but only to let you know that those who gained from facts on this forum have every right to help aspirants thro this medium. And rankings or the details of them are very much an integral part of it.

When i have seen the thread first time i thought it is going to be an interesting thread.
But you have not lived up to that expectations. How does it matter if your insti has <REMOVED> in the magazine....???
Moreover, your post as well as the other <REMOVED> post is provocating and other b skoolers might as well start saying my skool is best. We dont want that to happen.
Hope it is clear to you. Dont sound like you are all important and trying to serve the community amidist thousand things. We all know how b-skoolers behave. So please dont use such language in the PMs.

A humble request to all of the members...

We are not here to alienate anyone or lock any discussion. But at the same time board should give the aspirants information that they can use, and not the information which can confuse them. Rankings issue has been discussed several times on the board and the rationale behind not supporting them is very much clear to regular members. New members can go through old threads to get a feel of what i am talking about.

Hope this makes my stance clear.
