I,m a student of iiml-2006 batch .can students from different b-schools share information on the various alumni-interaction meetings that go on .we at iiml want to get an insight into how other b-scools go about contacting their alumni and leveraging them to increase the brand equity of their schools.thanks

Hi Hemant,

We @ SPJIMR have an Alumni committee which looks into contacts with the College Alumni and brings them to the college on various occasions to share their views.

2 days back we had the Director of Provogue (ACME Clothings), Mr. Akhil Chaturvedi, who is an SPJIMR alumnus, come to the college and discuss about the brand Provogue and about retail marketing.

Similarly in the very first week of our PGP course, we had two alumnus of college who are working with TAS and PWC come to the college and interact with the students.

Mr. Sunil Lulla, executive VP, Sony Entertainment, who is an alumnus of the college, is scheduled to address us very soon about the Jassi brand proposition.

Do let us know the events going on in your college and I hope other Bschoolers would come with their updates..

thanks for the reply.guys from the other IIMs ,XLRI and whosever is interested please jopin in.this can be a great lesson for us in interacting with our schools' alumni,for i beleive it is the biggest factor in increasing the brand equity of your school

as far as IIML is concerned here are the activities
1)Nostalgia - annual Alumni reunion at IIML -facilitates formal and informal interaction and revives old memories
2)SMARAN - Alumni contacts are given to students who in their term break or summers get to meet these alumnus in their home cities
3)IIM L mentor- provides a platform for students interested in specific career related issues to be directly connected to certain alumni
4)Placement Preparation workshop-helping with CV-writing,interview skills,communication skills
5)getting alumni to speak on campus during various events and fests
6)an ERP course
7)getting new companies for recruitment to campus through alumni in those companies
a periodic newsletter covering campus events specifically for the alumni
9)showcasing acheivements of various alumnus showing their career path,campus life,profile etc.
10) an alumni database

whew,thats it i think c'mon guys lets generate ideas to leverage the acheivements of past students to help our future become brighter - for nothing sells like a name

i'm a member of alumni committee known as alcomm in IMI-DEL....
it was gr8 2 know abt the alumni activities of diffrnt colls....v have around 6 alumni chapters functioning from different parts of the country....recently our delhi chapter met in the college campus and it was a great evening spent together....the various chapters keep on organising various events and get togethers....

our alumni who are known as ACHIEVERS come together for a national alumni meet which takes place in the month of october....which is a much awaited event in the campus...also the ACHIEVERS visit the campus regularly to share their experiences and participate in various events especially in KRITIVA- the annual b-school meet of IMI.

this is a good thread started. i am from Somaiya.here too we have a alumini commitee thats constantly in touich with our alumni for various things like our annual meet nostalgia, guest lectures and so on like sameer said it helps a lot in placements too.
sending out a magzine to them to keep them updated about things going on at the college also helps.
well hopefully we'll get a few more posts here and can learn from one another.

At IRMA, this year we have started IRMA Alumni Mentorship program wherein current students are getting Mentored by very senior IRMA alumni. It has been a resounding success.
