Hi,
After quite an eventful first day, I am jotting down my day 2 experience.
The session started with a program on Life Goals,Career Plan,Student Concerns in a B school. It was a nice session. Dr. CS Venkitratnam was the chief co ordinator. He tried to instill a good thought in students that "Dont right now count the salary you are going to get. Be practical and enjoy things. Accept things as they come. "
Quite a nice session indeed.
Then came the mostly awaited one: Interaction with the Placement Committee. by Mr Amrish Sharma. He detailed on the placement procedure, summer internship programmes, about the 3120 strong IMI alumni etc. Again by keeping the IMI tradition he wasnt boasting about the college and reported the facts as facts. He stresses on the need for better visibility for IMI to carry forward the tradition of IMI. One another salient point he discussed was the need for showing ethics in ones life and career. He detailed the story of a IMI 2008 passout guy who had got into HUL, but joined fritolays without informing them.
After that we had a session on Campus Living overview by Registrar Prof Balasubramaniam
Prof PC mehra introduced us towards Case study Analysis. His method of teaching was quite unique which was evident from the student participation that was witnessed.
After wards there was a LAPTOP demo show by Apple and HP. The apple guys ppt was good; but the price wasnt ..
" check out our MAC AIR....."
"sir, does it have a cd drive "
"no.. but seriously how often do we use a cd drive..hah??" ( WTF??..how often are we using a cd drive??..he should be from XLRI or IIM..was bullshitting too much...but anyways mac Air looks cool. )
"sir, about compatability??"
"Hey who wants compatability?.. in US Apple is having 60% market share amongst users with age between 20-30 and who are having a wife and no job and blah blah blah....
The other products offered Mac and mac pro looks good and performs nice.. but it isnt upto the mark.
HP guy just tried to focus on the fact that
"You can use this laptop even when you are taking bath with ur girl friend cos even if water spills on it its perfectly ok".
"When u r at bus stop if u arenot getting a seat, you can even stand/sit on it...its so rugged yaar"
and he demonstrated it also. it was like telebrands show.
He explained about the configuration only after someone pointing about it.
WTF???... did I wait for 3 months for this stupid deals??
Then it was a session with Achievers, the Alumni association of IMI. Its a vibrant organisation with about 3120 members. The eminent people who had come for the discussion were
Mr.Rajiv Dawan(Batch of 8
President Alumni Association
Head, Belgian bank
Mr.HAriharan
NAtional Vice President, ITC ltd( Batch of 86)
Ms. Saline George( Batch of 8
HR Head,
The session got over at9 pm. and we had session with seniors till 2 AM. pretty hectic day
So that was the account for Day2
PGDM- Batch of 2010 IMI- New Delhi

Regrets guys, wasnt able to post my last 3 days experinece before. I wsnt able to LOG-IN to Pagalguy...
Finally I got it...
---->Avi...., Its good to see posts from our mates on this thread.. Hope this progress continues..
These three days were actually like THREE YEARS, Each day never came to an end after a start.. Though only three-four lectures were meaningful for us, but we had to attend all the orientation lectures.
Yesterday was the most meaningful day of the lot..
The day kicked of with a session on Learning Inventory, I actually camke to know my Learning strategy. Then a session on Case Study-2, it was much cooler than expected and infact a brilliant session... Then we had a break and after which the most hyped session came....
Session on Time Management, By Prof. S........
He is an amazing speaker, but I never felt as insulted before. He actually proved that Engineers are curse to the society.
Though I learned a lot, but i have a doubt ki, can we actually follow all his instructions... I dont think so.....
He gave us example of persons who slept for 4-5hrs in their whole life......
Overall what he said makes Sense, and frankly speaking , to get going with IMI, we have to follow, atleast some of his instructions......
Sachi bataon to in teen dino HAPPY BRITHDAY ho gaya:happybday:
Even before the Core classes start on Monday, we are loaded for whole SUNDAY.. Have to gothrough all the course outlines, and specially of Marketing Mgmt.
Padna shuro karta hoon.... wanra lag jayegi.....
C Ya puys
And a SPECIAL Note: We better don`t use names of Prof... As many of them knows about this site...... and if we can hide our identity as well that will be great....
Come what may IMI ROCKS
PS: Hope to see updates from other puys as well...
Cheers and God Bless....
Enjoy LIFE

All I can say to this is.... I haven't seen anyone playing volley in so many days.... precisely....10 days
I had read in this thread that volley is the fav sport here and had asked the seniors about it as well. But they responded that only a handful actually play it and more peoplr are interested in cricket, badminton etc. Although they did say that with my height, I should try volley, playing as a spiker or something (only played volley once, so no idea what he meant by it..... maybe u could throw some light on it ). But kab, kiske saath??
Will get to know about our batch in a few days time, but I doubt that your days..... the "golden" days of volley could be revived.
@Saikat,
Heard that the alumni meet is normally organized in the 1st week of Nov.... Would you and your batchmates be coming? Although this is just what I heard and I have no idea whether this is the time when the alumni meet actually happens or not

My first post. Hardly a surprise since its been non stop action since I have reached IMI. No wonder I am posting on a Sunday.
First things first. Its been around 4 days that I have been here. And I have woken late on all the mornings ! :crazyeye: But what an awesome experience it has been ! The faculty is full of intellectuals, who have their own courses of thinking and ways of teaching, some very very unique ! And yes, the last sentence comes from a person whose father has been a teacher and administrator for more than 35 years now. Learning by Sharing is a concept every teacher preaches here. Its been very enlightening on my part, I must say.
The institute's USP has been touted to be its faculty. I was pretty apprehensive about the same before I joined. Whether it would have been actually as good as it was made out to be, but the orientation sessions have cleared all my doubts. And the classes havent even started !
Since very few students from the HR stream have posted on the thread, I will take the honours to take the initiative. The HR batch is quite a collage. We have engineers, commerce grads, humanities grads, and .........a dentist. Hell ya ! The first few sessions have already thrown hints at what is to come. Quite a few intellectuals in the batch, I must say ! I feel overwhelmed sometimes.
All in all, its been a wonderful first few days here in IMI. I wish it just gets even better.
Regards.
Manchester United is my religion, and Rooney is my God !

dada aapki team ka or hamari team ka ek ek voley and cricket match banta hai i think volley tradition was very well carried forward by your juniors as well as our juniors. batch of 2008 really had some cool volley players. spent a day in campus meetng profs and played cricket for a while. quite a nostalgic yet refreshing feel.

Re: Life@IMI-Delhi -

Marketing session by Prof S..... terror!!!! Me and my group had discussed the case for like... 7.5-8 hrs yesterday... of which one can say... 5-6 hrs of worthwhile discussion... We discussed, anayzed, noted down, discussed again and so on from 1415 hrs to about 2230 hrs... And we were seriously discussing...quite hard as well... Aaj subah uth ke bhi thoda apne copy mein note kar liye whatever was my view on the case and its questions etc. Was feeling quite good that atleast I'm putting in some efforts for my first case discussion
But kya hua??? B.Com students' colleges were termed as "rotten" and engineers (like me) termed as "unemployable" :( All confidence gone for a toss....Hum log ko roll no. wise bithaya hai so main, unluckily, front row mein hoon :( bilkul under his nose everytime
He provided a few pointers on how to approach the case looking from different perspectives..... assuming a hell lot of things and finally, calculating and quantifying the value of customer or whatever....
No doubt unki class mein pata chala ki what all points we missed out and what all we could have explored further, but still terror tha sahi mein.....Anyways, have another of his class on Thu.... Let's see kya hota hai
@ Saikat..... Lagta hai would be needing ur help for MM - 1 and MM - 2. Jab alumni meet ya kabhi aur aaoge tab aapko pakdunga
Next session, Accounts by Prof Arora. Wo to comparatively kaafi kaafi cool hai. Shayad unke saamne baith k so bhi jaun to kuch na kahe wo. But what all he taught was pretty basic. Itna basic padhaya aaj unne ki I started to think ki why did I join the remedial classes for accounts earlier?? Us samay jaldi jaldi balance sheets tak pahunch gaye the aur ab bilkul dheere dheere details mein padha rahe hai. Aaram se ghar pe 1 more week reh k aata.... But ya, got accustomed to this clg environment in that one week. This is probably the only advantage that I got out of the remedial classes. But paying 9000/- for getting accustomed??? Phew....
Uske baad a few of us got together to discuss the case again, taking cues from whatever Prof S..... told us.... Discuss kiya around 2 hrs but nothing concrete.... More of a waste of time
Waise Saikat, how did you manage to play 6-7 hrs of volley?? Thoda bata do kaise manage kiya aap logon ne?? Kyunki abhi to theek hai but I don't think jab sabke hume assignments milne lagenge, we'll get much free time

Well dont follow my footsteps coz i never studied apart from my specialization papers ....also assgnmnts or ppt's itne bhi jyada load ke nahiii hote....time manage karne main utni fight nahii hoti hain...
but then for 2 yrs i only slept at an average for 3-4 hrs a day...maybe that helped me...7 hrs of volley/basketball...8-9 hrs of classes/group work...3-4 hrs of vellagiri..baaki time b-skool fests main online participate karna..that used to be my schedule
ciao..
P.S - for mktg call me any time...u have my number and my mail id
