well i would lke to quote my example when it comes to sales job.
I passed out last year and was wokring with a no so reputed mktg firm.
my entire day used to get used up n i used to come home at aruond 8-8.30 + if i have to go out of station for a couple of days, there was no way i cud put in enough efforts by 8.30 pm i used get so drained out that i used go to sleep by 11.
and worst of all i landed up with "JAUNDICE" around sept.. pure CAT ka satya nash ho gaya, one year down the drain.

so i personally u can think of doing a job with CAT if and only if u have a sedentary job or u r hercules who doesnt get exhausted with alll hectic travelling

hi,

sure ..agree with khayti ... need to b a hercules to take time out and prepare for cat if the job involves lots of touring ......

Sounds like a lame question but nevertheless ..will still pose it ::
how much will this job quitting affect the PI ..if one actually happens to get a call? ..

gez one cud always make it up with a thought out answer.

Is it worth leaving a job for CAt prep ? come to think of it i can write a 350 word essay on this topic and still be left be left with more to say...haa me no Wordsworth ..just another guy who left the comforts (sic) of his job to walk the CAT way.
This decission may vary from individual to individual depending on what kind of job they hav ,their work schedule and most of all what career goals they hav...for me this seemed the best way forward...okk a drop year dosent look good in ur resume, but then if u can make it count nothing like it....
as for how to convince the interview panelists that this decission was right...well guys the harder job is convincing urself...once ur thru that ..the rest shud be a piece of cake....(no case of foot in mouth )

cheers

hi guys
this is one of the major dilemmas any cat aspirant with work-ex faces. one thing is for sure..there is no alternative to hardwork. so if it means slogging hard for nights together or forgetting abt sundays(or saturdays, basically days for mocks) then be it. now the actual qn..is it worth leaving a job for cat prep..i definitely don't think so, atleast from my perspective. for me, all that matters is doing well on the d-day(since ive been there done that). if you have the basic fundaes in quant and a decent vocab, then i think a serious prep of 4-5 hrs a week will definitely keep you in the race.
for me, my prep is only for 3-4 hrs a week(at the most ) and i must say that though ive not fared upto my standards, considering my prep time every week, its not that bad. i feel doing well on the d-day is THE thing.

I will be completing 3 years in oct. I am working with satyam. I spoke to my HR friend and he scared me that dont keep a gap of more then 2 months or 3 months max in the worst case. I am being forced to take up the project but not sure when to quit.
