I m sure all of us have heard about this concept of using the left side of our brain and the right side of our brain. Well, i for one am experiencing this first hand at Indore. There is absolutely no place left in my brain which is currently left unutilised.

While some of it is taken up by MAC, MWC, MOC, QT, CT and other acad related stuff, the rest of it is taken up by EQUITI, MERCURI, The Quiz Club, IRIS, et al.

Wow, the range of stuff one gets to be a part of out here in quite amazing. U have to be here to experience it first hand, coz no amount of posting/blogging would do any sort of justice.

Rock on guys.................Jamster

Hey there,

U guys have to read the following to believe it. Following is an extract from the IIM I News Service and provides a sexxxy description of some of the recent sporting activity at IIM Indore. Here goes:

Just when you thought everything in the world was as predictable as the
timing of the Eco quiz, there comes an unimaginable situation that hits
you.. not because of its intensity but because of the element of surprise..
People, one such event happened right under our nose today evening in the
volleyball court. Hold your breath.. A-Block actually (yes actually) won the
Volley ball match against the D-block!! No.. This is not a rumour. It's a
hard fact collected by our correspondent on site. As unbelievable as it may
sound.. It's True!

Well, jokes apart, A-block played well and beat the stocking out of the D
spikers. It seemed like an easy win for D-blockers when they won the first
set comfortably. But then guys from Acropolis struck back telling blows.
They took three sets in a row and in the process almost choked the D-team.
The boosting of Jus-key and the smashing of Hatim was aptly supported by
powerful serving by Udatta and great field work by Saket, Prasoon, Govar,
Rohan and Gagan.

D-block's injury worries continued with Arun busting his knee. Wish him a
speedy recovery.

Special thanks to Sishu and Tandon for unbiased and accurate refereeing. Do
let us know when you need a return favor :-)

Well, that's about it for now.. More action coming up mid of next week. This
time, its gonna be cricket. And make no mistake A-blockers, the Dementors
are waiting to strike back. So be on your guard or be dead.

Logging off.

IIMI News Service.

Awesome stuff, rite !!!!

Cheers.............Jam

Re: Life @ IIM Indore - 24-07-2004, 01:35 AM

hmm well if that volley ball match wasnt enuf here comes some jargon thats common here.. rather than call them jargon , i will call them managerial concepts..

Happy bday... :

Ground rules
Never get excited when someone says happy bday.. coz its jus the start for the fun for others and pain for u..and the reason for hap bday wishes is not that ur havin ur real bday.if some one in enthu gives CP (class participation) after the class time hes given the black chit ..

Action plan
Get the victim to the Melting Pot (thats the place where bdays are celebrated) get lotsa eggs..jan squash..ariel colgate.. rather get nythin ..water goes without sayin is the main item... splash it on the guy and kicka$$

Result
The victim is stinking dirty... has lotsa bumps to count and gives everyone a treat at the night canteen...

DCP : common among all the B schools) Desperate Class Participation... :argue:

Globe : basically speakin nonsense without gettin to the real point... due to well err lack of points

Arbit :
almost similar to Globe.. we ourselves are tryin to figure out the meaning...

Ganpat Rai : i leave that to ur imagination...

Water Fights..

i love this part ..

Armoury needed..
Water , buckets, cups, colgate, ariel, whatever else u can get ur hands on..

Attire
Preferably minimal..

where does this start of from ?? well we ourselves are a lot confused .. but what the heck.. the other day the water fights started off at 200 in the morn adn went on till 400 ... wanna went of ur frustration... jus join the bandwagon and rock the place.. bang on everyones door.. dunk them with water.. and the victims ?? well we dun care for them...

Mexican Waves
having mexican waves in the class behind the teachers back has an advantage.. thats the only way u can keep urselves awake.. a variation to the normal way is to use the adjustable chairs to go up and down in a rhythimic pattern..

Add to these the innumerable Pan Indian languages that are spoken out here ( read foul mouthing in all the different possible combos..)

Well after all these we do get to study a bit whenever we get time.. well for me my day starts now.. got 5 chaps (read 150 pages to study for toms quiz)

Hey Whencool,

Could nt agree with u more on the terms !!! However, here are a few ones u missed.

Words of the session

The basic concept is that u choose a word or better two words, and ensure that everyone who does any sort of CP in class uses those words in each and every attempted CP.

If he doesn t use the words of the session, rest assured, it will be his HAPPY B DAY tonite.

This is a relatively new concept as far as our batch goes. Today was our first day and I can unabashedly boast that it was quite a roaring success.

I ll keep updating on the various jargon and the quirks of this place regularly.

Cheers...............Jamster

hehe...
adding to that, there is one more term, which is particular to one building of this hilltop penitentiary. that too, only certain people use it.
well that is,

not at all nice: I would like to request JAM/ whencool (bugger) to explain it in laymans terms. As of now, lemme globe about it.
On one unfortunate day, yours truly was hogging like a pig and commented that the food was not at all nice, Everybody looked at the plate (rather the vessel, as many would like to call :P ) and there started the fun. JAM.... take over :P

I'll take over.

Typical of Chandoo: For literally every item in the mess, as we move forward in the buffet queue, Chandoo would first comment "The food is Not at all nice", but still take .... err... half of a KG of every item and stack it in his plate. Please try to picturize the scene.

Did I get it right?

Re: Life @ IIM Indore - 25-07-2004, 01:55 AM

To keep all you people updated, here s the latest edition of the IIM I News Service:

Hi people,

Just as A-block is trying not to get complacent about their abilities, the
D-block is making its own plans to avenge the defeat in the volleyball court
(commonly being referred to now as an 'Aberration'.:-)) So here goes..
D-block has formally challenged the guys from Archipelagos to a game of
8-a-side cricket match. Just when we thought all the rivalry was over and
bonhomie was prevailing, the Dementors are back with vengeance, to give the
famous kiss of death to their opponents. :-) Details follow.

Date: 27th July 2004 (Tuesday)

Time: 5:30 PM

Venue: LORDS (a.k.a. D-block Basky court)

As mentioned earlier, its gonna be an 8-a-side cricket match. It will be a
best of three series with 8 overs each and the ground rules will be decided
on the field. The team captains of both the blocks are requested to send in
their team list (with nick names) to the IIMI News Service office latest by
Monday midnight. The teams (with interviews of some 'star' performers) will
be published in the next newsletter.

A special mention to the participation or rather the lack of it, of the
girls of our batch in the different proceedings.. Well, you don't know what
kind of an impact you can have just by being there :-) Some of the guys
(names withheld for privacy reason) have attributed their success or rather
the lack of it, to the absence of any "inspiration". Guess the least the
girls of our batch can do is to come in and cheer the teams of their choice.
Add a bit of masala to the Chaos :-) So please don't wait for a special
invitation and be there to be part of the fun.

Just before closing, we would like to request people to refrain from
spamming the entire batch with personal comments. Though do send it to all
of us who are known to enjoy a bit of fun. :-)

That's about it for now from our desk. Enjoy the drink party tonight and
hope to see a lot of you in the CS practice tonight (believe me, you get
better as you get into the 'high spirits' mode:-))

Done for the day.

IIMI News Service

Footnotes..:

* PGP1 lost to PGP2 today in the volley match. Those guys are good
but we are getting better. Hard luck boys.. Keep working at it.. We'll hit
back soon and they wont even know what hit them :-)

* All mails from IIMI News Service will contain [IIMI News Service]
in the subject line henceforth, to make sure that those of us who have our
reservations about the whole concept can filter out these mails. We respect
your privacy and hope that this will serve the purpose for now.

Hope this fills your minds with lovely pictures from Indore.

Cheers............Jamster
