The Best thing about having options is that U can pick n choose!!

Today We the PRM 30 participants had an opportunity to interact with two of the International Macro Economics professors Dr. Guha n Dr. Sahoo who are interested to come here as a IRMA Faculty and we have to give our preferences..

We had a healthy chat with both of them..regarding our orientation their style of teaching et al.

But the best part of it was the feeling that here we are part of the decision process.

I must mention that it was a bit of mismanagement on our part as we had an extended class in the afternoon n Dr. Guha had to wait for us which was very embarrassing. But yes we will learn from it and going forward will keep this in mind.

Cheers

Re: IRMANS Way of Life - 17-07-2009, 01:28 AM

One week before the mid terms and people are feeling the heat. A flood of assignments and presentations and quizzes have become the norm of life here at IRMA.
The rains have added to the beauty of the campus. Abhijeet is suffering on account of his sleep patterns. Rupesh bhai has taken the mantle of solving all quant cases. Rajat looks lost. So do i.

The worst part is it is going to get worse. THe best part is that we have been able to retain our sense of humour. Laughing at our own incompetence to crack cases and eco questions have become common place now!!!
THis is how IRMA instils humility. Expands your horizons, shows you your weaknesses and builds you into a competent manager.

Nitin is right about the rains part. The campus is looking awesome after the rains. Midterm fever has not caught up much because of the tons of assignments and presentations that you've got to do. Every second person I meet is dejected with life.
In other news, I'm still sitting in the last row. Had my RSP presentation today. Think I did an ok job. Had another quiz in FAC and did pretty good.
About the sleep pattern thing, I get it only on days when I don't sleep in the afternoon.
Ok , Gotta get back to work. Got a full case to read, understand, analyse, type a report on it and print it before I go to sleep.
Good night !!

Very well said Nitin... n ur power of communication was easily felt at RSP presentation...but for the Quant part rest i can live with..man I am just trying to solve the assignments..

N yes...about the work pressure, there is a point after which u don't feel anything n just go with the flow...and this is very true in ours' case...
Surprise Quiz..OMG..n then comes news ...assignment..Com on...third added pressure...write up..Holy Sh*t... fir usske baad AAn De... kya fark padta hai!!!

So, The pressuer we are handling is more than what Newton handled..I mean Newton = Pascal/sq.Meter.. n we are living on the edge..no luxury of sq meter. PJ... nevermind..

Gotta go now..pressure building up.

Cheers

Re: IRMANS Way of Life - 24-07-2009, 06:44 PM

The midterms have taken the life @ IRMA. The only communication is through the lan messenger , that too to ask some doubts and share notes.
Yesterday we had financial accounting and rural society and polity exams. Almost 90 % of the class are masters in cooking books now. Lets see whether we get special marks for fraudulent accounting practices. RSP was the saving grace and I feel sad that we are done with the subject forever . In its place we have 2 more half credit courses from next week onwards ; Rural Research Methods and Rural Livelihood Systems.
Today morning , the eco exam was pretty easy and boy, was it a sight to see the bright faces. Nothing to say about the IGB exam in the afternoon . I don't know how it went , it was all a blur . Wasted around 1 hr in the beginning and then it was a rush to finish the paper in time . Don't even remember what crap I've written.

Everybody's mugging Quants and Rupesh is in great demand . As for me , I've lost hope and am gonna sleep .
Will be back on sunday with the grind report ..

Three days is all it took to realise how tough it is to survive in the most prestigious institute of rural management.
Now learnt that procrastination which so helped me in my grad courses is going to kill me.
THIS COURSE IS TOUGH!!!! I think I am going to use this line whenever I attempt to solve aspirants' queries.
Getting into IRMA is tough.Surviving IRMA is tougher.
Looking forward to RRM lecture which is taken by Prof Pellisery. Impressive credentials. PHd from Oxford!!!!!
Lets see how we survive his onslaught!!!
Cheers!!!!

Re: IRMANS Way of Life - 26-07-2009, 01:09 AM

Welcome to the thread prerna !!
It was one hell of a day . Woke up at 7 and got out of bed at 8 . Did zero studies and left to the exam hall at 910 after breakfast . Cursed myself like anything when I saw that the questions were so direct that anyone who had done one or two readings of the chapters seriously could ace it . But I feel most people were disoriented by the tough nature of the classes. Headed straight to the football ground and played for half an hour when people started to drop out , partly cos of sleep deprivation and partly since many of the players were leaving to Mt. Abu. Collided with Rupesh during the match and now I'm surviving on painkillers. This guy is real strong.
Almost 25 people out of 108 have left for Mt. Abu , many to ahmedabad , baroda, mumbai n pune. So the campus feels deserted. Very few seniors have come back to the campus and the others are expected tomorrow.

Had a grind session in the night with the seniors, had lot of fun though the attendance was low. It really helped in getting the frustration out (Hint - Gujarat = Dry State ).Got back just now and suddenly I;m completely disoriented . Feeling so bored because the usual nocturnal suspects are having a gala time in Mt. Abu . Maybe I'll watch a movie .

Chalo bye !!
