Please help me out since the last date for joining is 30th June.

Re: ICFAI Distance Education plan - 22-06-2004, 02:31 PM

ICFAI Distance MBA is OK, Its course content is good, its same as other ICFAI courses, But ICFAI change the Fee and course structure again and again so its good if U Know the current structure, ICFAI is little known for distance education. But Job after these MBA is tough, U wont get 100% gain out of it.

I feel campus placements is very important, i dont think ICFAI gives it thro. distance education !!

Do U want MBA or Job or Promotion in currrent Job ect... then we can say ICFAI will help U or not !!

BEST OF LUCK

Hi people
Thanks for the response. Well this MBA is only to give me an edge as far as internal promotions are concerned...and a boost to my work ex. I have to choose between Symbiosis and ICFAI...and ICFAi charges at least 3 times more, thats why me was asking

Regards,

Rohit

M.B.A., thro' distance education - 30-09-2005, 06:25 PM

Hi guys,

I am also planning to do M.B.A., thro' distance education. I am thinking of ICFAI. They charge around Rs.60000/-. My doubt is that whether it is worth doing MBA thro' distance education. I have a work experience of 10 years (as a secretary, but in the last one year as German Translator) but I have not held any supervisory / managerial position. Currently, I am working as a German Translator. Will MBA help me in switching over to a new job as a Manager or promotion in my present job.

Can anybody suggest me?

Thanks

Padmanabhan

hi...

Acc to me MBA by correspondence frm any institute will be rated same in context of course containt ... but what will matter is the brand name...

So acc to me u shld go for Symbiosis as it charges less and also got a good rating than icfai...

All the best..

Finally decision is urs.

I have done my graduation from Open University and some of my friends have done MBA/MCA from different institues thro' distance mode.

According to my experience :

1. Studying with job is very very hard. Because U wont be able to spend that much time. So always choose a course in which there is no assignment submition or assignments are of objective type only and online submission would be the best. Because subjective questions consumes sooo much time.

2. Exams must also be objective so that you can focus on fundamentals rather than trying to mug-up the long answers. And it's difficult to remember long long theories so the chances getting failed will increase.

3. Course must be flexible i.e. you can deside to sit in some papers in next term also. But then you will need to ask for the fresh set of assignments. Now these assignments (and all other forms also) must be available online. Otherwise in IGNOU I need to send a Registered Post to DELHI office to send assignments and that also come just one week before the last date.

4. And the course coverage should be broder rather then deeper because taking you too much in the deep would only leave you searching for reference books and expert's advises. On the other hand broader coverage would ensure that you have something to speak on every aspect of management as one's goal in distance learning is not to gain the mastery but to gain a degree to add the value to the resume !!!

Now the options available are :
IGNOU (the world's largest open MBA prog. Lowest Fees but dont join because the system if tooo careless & burocratice )
NMIMS (the most reputed .... but subjective assignments plus subjective exams)
SYMBIOSIS (most reputed after NMIMS ... and both assignments & exams are online & objective ... only in 2-3 subjects they have subjective assignments but exams are totally objective )
Wellingker (I dont know anything about it .... so no comments )
AMITY (Bad reputation)
IMT (totally e-learning MBA ... but entrance test is there )
ICFAI (too costly ..... otherwise very very good)

Now another point is recognision ( it comes in picture only if one needs to go for further studies in future ) according to the reply of my mail AICTE has said that NMIMS & SYMBIOSIS are not offering AICTE approved course !!! I didnt asked about Wellingker !!! IGNOU is approved .... AMITY has lost the approval now and ICFAI is a multi-state university so doesnt need AICTE's approval but his recognision is in danger.

So decide your criteria and personally visit the centre's of these institutes and specifically ask about assignments and exams.

Cheers.

World doesn't need successful MBAs but it needs successful Managers !!!

Wait Wait Wait.....about Aicte N All - 03-10-2005, 09:37 AM

Now all of you who r honking about AICTE...I have a point to make.

AICTE recognition is for INSTITUTES, who are NOT affiliated to any UNIVERSITY. For according recognition to a university, there is ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES (AIU).

In case of ICFAI, it is a multi-state network of universities and it was derecognised ONLY IN CHATTISGARH...not the rest of INDIA and so IT CAN AWARD masters degrees even now.

Amity's recognition was cancelled AGAIN IN CHHATISGARH but since it was not registered in any other state like ICFAI, it became a fake university. But now even AMITY has been registered by UP State Legislature...making it an approved university.

Before bringing out your observations, you should be competent enough to know what is meant for what.

AICTE= For Institutes not affliliated to any university
AIU= Apex association of Indian Universities ( ICFAI IS a member of this )
UGC= University Grants Commission. Universities taking "grant" or "financial aid" from UGC are government universities, those who do not take a grant are Private universities.

If theres any other misconception then I would love to clear it...hope this gives u all forum members some sense.

Now continue ur discussion.

Regards,

Tumtum
