I had a dream.
I had a wish
I had a desire
On the contour of these starts the journey of My MBA dream . I finally got that dream admit IIM S. which we call now as IIM ONE Indian Institute of Management Of North East.
As like any other person I had some initial apprehension about IIM S and its location. zillion of question were running in my head. so finally decided to pay a visit.
All packed I reached Shillong and next day .The Temporary campus is in the main city . One need to say the place name Nongthymmai and say old NEHU campus. jst dont say NEHU otherwise they will take u to new NEHU( North eastern hill University) Campus.
The Insti is on half and hr distance from the main city center. On the way it was so much crowded that I was stuck in traffic jam true!!! Traffic jam ..such is the number of taxis are there.
After a long dual with traffic. I was standing outside the gate of my alma mater. As soon I informed that I have been offered admission there . boy! I was given such a warm welcome by our dear colonel Gosh. man ! he is just one lively person. Our security in charge and such a zeal to make things happen there . I was given preferential treatment over others who were waiting to meet the Director. after few minutes I was ushered in the director's room . The kind of personality I encountered got me thrilled with every aspect of the two yrs I m gonna spend in this place. After getting all my queries answered I was allowed to take the tour of campus.
For 60 students the kind of place it is one word describes it all
"fantabulous"
The Hostels were also pretty neat. bathrooms all marble floored. I fond girls hostels better than boys there hostels were facing the valley side and what a beautiful view it has. Girls room also has been given feminine touch with all pick colour..n yeah hey have wooden flooring.. felt more like a resort room
After the campus visit and getting assured. I took the tour of other places and also went to cherapunji n Boy!! yes I was all in love. Major crowd that come there comprises of bengali . some nice beauty was and dressing was all the air is alot western
Got to discover some good food joints like city hat dhaba. There was even Vishal mega mart and all prominent bank branches like axis, icici, hdfc, vijaya et al
mesmerized I came back.
15 days to go till I become a part of these magical alphabets. I I M THE PICS which I CLicked | | | | | The Following 47 Users Say Thank You to diablorulez For This Useful Post: | !fRoZeN! There is something about the north east they say. enticing as it may seems. The cloudy monsoon . The hills the view and now we have the 7 th IIM . yes IIM shillong.
Reached on 1st july with the greed to catch the best of the rooms. but as soon I entered the registration counter of the room. aila! I get a basked with full of room nos. yeah u guessed it right it was on lottery basis and voila!! I got a single room. There has been massive devolpment in jst 20 days. this shows the kind of enthu we are carrying.
for any work for volunteers..up goes the hands of all the students all the time.. had best of the first night with a full night out and drizzling rain.
room with all the necessary facilities.. we even had curtains and all.
students ere pouring from all side of the country. It was like a kind of carnival going on in this side of world. I can fill it in the air.. within me..among us all the magic of IIM ...IIM S..
yeah we have share of pur problems like our wifi connectivity will b delayed for some time.. like a week as they said.. but man! who need any wifi right now when we have GBs of data and movies flowing around. and some nice flics too
within a day we have got a store a booth in our hostel and ye ye ye!! food is jst aweeeeeeeeesome.. ghar ka khana.. man! m jst loving it with paneer.. gobhi and yummy parathas..chole bathure and what not!!
today we had our resgistratin process going on.. it was a breeze affair with SBI giving us pre approved loans .. whole block got the BSNL applied for BSNL connecion today.
Tomm starts our inaugural function.. a great day in history AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY and we have our IIM going to come live
they said that people are sceptic they said we wont have best of faculty
and what I read this today in the morning newspaper The Telegraph - Calcutta (Kolkata) | Nation | US faculty for Shillong IIM

Success.. starts with S ..and so is IIM S

Well When I first saw this thread link I thought about "IIMS" as "Indian institute of Management studies". I was surprised that people from this college has opened it. But when I saw diablo's name my mind clicked it must be IIM Shillong.
Nice pics man . It seems that the life would be like studying in some hill station. Sounds great to me.
Anyways not wanted to spam this thread. My point was whether to change title of this thread as someone like me can be confused. | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to swapnilpatil147 For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

The 4th day of July is usually famous owing to it being celebrated as the independence day of the USA. While the stars and stripes were fluttering in the US, the stage was set elsewhere back home in India in the Scotland of the East (better known as Shillong – the capital of the state of Meghalaya) for a pioneering purpose. The inauguration of the first batch of the Indian Institute of Management was scheduled at the North Eastern Council Secretariat today. For the uninitiated, the 7th and the latest IIM has started operations in the hill city much against the expectations of many skeptics across the country. The inauguration had Dr. Don Kupar Roy - the Hon. CM of Meghalaya as the Chief Guest, Sri T K Nayar (IAS) – The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, who presided over the function, and Sri Arjun Malhotra – The Co-founder of HCL and the current Chairman of Headstrong Inc. as the guest of honor. The ambience of the well lit auditorium was further enhanced by the presence of other eminent dignitaries including the Director of IIM Shillong Sri Ashoke Dutta and the Chairman of the Board of Governers of IIM Shillong, Sri R N Dutta who incidentally is the Ex-Chairman of Price Waterhouse Coopers. The representation from the media included television channels such as NDTV, Doordarshan and several regional channels of the North East. The program included talks from the various speakers who shared their vision on how the IIM would help benefit the North Eastern region by virtue of its presence as a center of excellence thus enabling the local population as well by way of leveraging the best practices and latest teaching pedagogy made available at the IIM. The talk by Mr. Arjun Malhotra was indeed inspirational. While quoting Asia’s first Nobel laureate Sri Rabindranath Tagore, Mr. Malhotra emphasized that times have indeed changed and that the world now looks at India as an Intellectual and economic super power -the IITs and the IIMs would be pivotal in sustaining this momentum. Prof. Ashoke Dutta was categorical in mentioning that despite several doubts and questions raised from different quarters, the IIM was set up in a record time of 4 months and emphasized that the State Government and the Board of Governors would do all in their capacity to model IIM Shillong as one of the best in the country. As quoted previously in the media, IIM Shillong will be equipped with the best IT infrastructure thus truly making it the first and the best tech savvy IIM of the 21st century. It may be recalled that IIM Shillong was the first IIM to accept online applications with no additional fee for the same. IIM Shillong will also be the first IIM to hire foreign faculty especially from the USA in order to bring in the best in class global practices and business know how at the door step of its students. With a battery of highly competent and distinguished faculty, idyllic surroundings amidst the un plundered nature and a batch of pioneering students with the zest to perform, the stage is all set to give the other IIMs and the rest of the B schools in the country, a run for their money. But, for the moment, the journey has just begun… IIM Shillong - Batch of 2008 - 2010
