Re: IIM S - The Birth of the Pioneers - 10-07-2008, 09:03 PM

Hi,

1 week into the IIMS. it feels like i have done 1 month work. assignments, case studies, studying before classes etc etc. But everything said it is enjoyable, it is extracting maximum potential out of me. Nights are getting longer and there is every possibility that i practise mini sleeps to keep myself energised. Faculties are no longer like our engineering days wherein concepts are taught in classes. Classes are used for application of concepts, case studies, role plays etc etc .

Groups are formed and emphazise of the institute will be on team work, an essential ingredient for organisations in upcoming days. We have been divided in such a way that no 2 student is from same state and background. We are in the process of starting clubs and committees.

I am not able to catch up with national news and business news which was my past time before joining iim shillong. 'Left withdraws support for congress' somebody shouted behind me. i pinched myself to say that there is an outside world which too i have to follow.

More to come.........

Regards
Hari.

Hello all...

I know that most of what I write is going to be repetition, but its the joy and the honour involed in the post.. that keeps me from avoiding redundancy.. I apologise to the mods here for comin in this late.. !

I would like to keep it plain and simple as most of the glamour till date is awesomely put up by my batch mates..
to summarize I would say that we here at IIM Shillong... are a fantastic bunch of aspirants who are referred to by our professors as 'budding managers' or 'participants'

hats off to the elites who were involved in our admissions for selecting such a diverse group which is equipped with a perfect blend of experience, neonism, attitude, tenderness and ability.

to comment on the hostel, campus, and food I would say ... they are worth the flaunt they have received... and we are still to experience much more...

so i would give full marks to the Institute for what they have done and now it's showtime for us...we are all here to make a mark.:2gunfire:

regards,
Abhiram.

Re: IIM S - The Birth of the Pioneers - 13-07-2008, 12:10 AM

we have been told that we would have one of the most tech savy campuses in India, and we got a preview of the facilitiies available yesterday when the smart board started working, having understood the complete functioning of the smart board, we were left speach less

for those of you who might me wondering what exactly is a smart board, this is what wikepedia says about it:
Quote:
The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is a product of SMART Technologies. It is a large, touch-controlled screen that works with a projector and a computer. The projector throws the computer’s desktop image onto the interactive whiteboard, which acts as both a monitor and an input device. Users can write on the interactive whiteboard in digital ink or use a finger to control computer applications by pointing, clicking and dragging, just as with a desktop mouse. Buttons launch a popup keyboard and a right-mouse-click menu for more input options.
not only that, it has the capacity of recording what ever is written on it, it can be used as a white board with the specials pens that accompany it, and hence the entire board work of the class is available to us for future reference!!!! this is not the end of its capablities, it also has the capability to record the voice, so we can simply record and then revisit the lecture at our convinence

they are currently wiring up so that the smart board can be assessed (seen) remortly so that we would be able to attend the lectures from our hostel rooms if we are too sick to attend

Kabhi class mein so gaya to we have a reference to look forward to... Really impressed by this smart board.... Is it followed in the other IIMs as well??
