Just coz I ve taken all posts sportingly ... please don't give out misinformation.
The person who got through had a PPI, and Edel took his interview as part of the final placements process and made him a finals offer not a PPO
Please confirm facts before posting ...

Though i agree ... placement reports are good test of EU skills

Really a mind blowing placement.iim k is really growing like anything.
And I personallly believe that after 2 to 3 years students may start
prefering K over L(seriosly,no intention of mud-slinging through this point) .But One silly doubt is coming to my mind.
The domestic average placement of iimC & iim A is greater than iimK.
So does it happens that some SAME company offer more package to students
at A & C than to that of K.I think it should not happen.Then what is the basis
of negotiating package at this campus placements.Does it depends upon previous
profile.Or does it depends upon grade-points in the mba course.
Or it is just the perception of I-banks etc to give high package to A B C students.


Similarly why there is difference between the highest domestic
salary between different colleges.I don't know what differentiates A & K.
Or it is just a matter of perception.

You are right, most companies offer the same package to all the IIMs(A,B,C,L,I,K). The difference in the average figures may be due to the following reasons:
1. An increased participation from new recruiters visiting some campuses only, these new recruiters might offer higher packages. Remember, not all companies visit all the IIMs. For example, O3 capital visited IIML this time but not IIMB. (Another example, the number of positions offered by I banks and consulting companies are generally more in IIMs A,B,C compared to L,I,K as a result of which there is a surge in the average figures)
2. The profile of the batch in the IIMs. Some IIMs may have students who are heavy in work-ex; and usually it's these people who play a significant role in increasing the average figures.

Grade points do matter but only when you are competing against your classmates not otherwise.

That is indeed true. In the last fortnight, publishing placement reports has become more of a forensic science job for us than plain jane content editing at PGHQ. We're having to send back almost every placement report to ask for clarity on...

1. Separate domestic averages
2. Disbursement currency of international salaries + location
3. Averages calculated on packages accepted and not packages offered

It's amazing how many skeletons we could dig out . But I appreciate it that most placement committees did clarify with the figures, even if after a lot of protesting.

Those who didn't (FMS Delhi for example, who have not revealed their domestic average), we have simply chosen not to publish their placement report until they give us the correct figures.

Edited to add - this still does not ensure that we're getting the accurate and true figures, because we cannot verify that. However, we are getting b-schools to at least commit to the figures on the basis of the 3 criteria above. If they're committing it wrong despite our efforts, they're lying on record.
