Floyd - It wasn't a mistake ... the reason the term "average domestic" came into being was because there were issues raised with colleges converting salaries ...
The internationals haven't been added simple coz they havent even been considered as of now ... and that's why there is no International Average as well ...
Why haven't we considered them ?
Coz there is one company which still hasn't finished with its process and is offering an international placement. And No the figure 23 International offers, doesn't contain any figures for that company.
Only after the results for that company can we come with an International Average and Overall Average ( converting internationals ) which we would not want to coz its silly.

Let me get to the salaries quoted on this link ...
IIM K is not 3rd according to this .. absolutely correct ... I don't care if we are 3rd 4th or 100th ... I have a problem with something else ...

The average for I is quoted at 12.35 .. Is that the domestic average ?
It is the Average Salary from last year and not the domestic average

Average Indian Salary according to the link gives 12.6 ... but was it domestic average ?
Check your own website and placement report ... It was the Average .. and not the domestic average ...

Unfortunately in the same column is IIMK's 11.76 the domestic average and not 12.8 the Average ...

@ Floyd - You see it makes no sense to put 2 salaries at all ..
The media / forums get confused ....
Publish one salary which is only the domestic average .. which is what has been done this year ..
On your part you are right that the word domestic should have been used ..

I think most of us know how words can be twisted for the press reports, but most reports on PG are pre-verified against such "glorified" averages....so no tension.and as far the media cell thing goes....most puys managing threads of their respective instis are media cell members....e.g me (member of illuminatix,media & PR cell of XIMB)

Keep this thread limited to discussions abt IIMK placements fellas, we've done well and we're bloody well proud of that. We really don't wanna bother comparing average sals with other instis unless we are provoked to do the same

You are free to carry out any data mining exercise and hypothesize on some trend that all top B-skools seem to follow, we'll pitch in with our arguments and views if its on a different thread. The thing with we B-skoolers is that our logic/english is very strong, proving/disproving something comprehensively is just gonna be impossible on an online forum

PS: I ain't a member of any committee here and anyone who's been long enough on PG knows my stand on silly B-skool comparisons

Danke !! Thankfully I've managed an account development/Global sales role (will progress to a client engagement manager role in 3-4 yrs), hope I don't have to deal a lot with PMs in the near future

ShriK is headed to Amex, not sure about the exact role, will get him to post here soon.
