Hi,

Well, The placement figures of SJMSOM are being viewed with envy and sometimes scepticism by many here(including some other b school students). While you all are using very politically correct and measured sentences what you are actually doing is doubting an institute of national importace which has been revered by all for the past so many decades(And is now under the RTI umbrella). I know things are competitive so everyone wants to maintain an edge and hence some Qns are being raised... which is all very well.

But let me tell you that from the aspirants perspective, SJMSOM has come out with a very detailed placement report which is more informative than many other top schools. Plus their being covered under RTI does have huge implications. If found tampering with data, they risk many things, biggest one being their respect as an IIT which believe me is a big thing. Not that what they say is the gospel truth but it has higher credibility.

One of the reasons for a high avg could be the smaller batch size as pointed out earlier. avg of top 50 students at iim l(if i am not wrong) is 18 lac, so SJMSOM can easily crack 14.5 claimed by them as many recruiters are bound to be common.

In the end I again want to congratulate them for this great achievement which is pushing them into the top league! for the doubters- 'guys.. use RTI'

I wish I could do that. But as of now, no b school reveals the exact methodology used to arrive at the figures. However, most of them follow more or less the same process. I wish in the future, all b schools and recruiters arrive at a common process and agree to reveal the exact details to the aspirants. Till that happens, it would be tough for us to divulge more details about the individual companies and packages than that provided in the report and in this thread so far.

Due to Eid, Holi and the weekend, we have a 4 days vacation at IIT Bombay. Hence, any further queries might take time to be answered. As the queries are becoming more and more specific, I would not be able to answer all of them as I am not a part of the placement committee. Hence, this may add to further delays in the replies.

4 had offers from RPG @ SOM. However only one is joining and that would be in Ceat Marketing.

As for your insight of stating my feelings about your report .. i fail to understand y should i hide my feelings about your report? I will plainly express my doubts about the report, if I have any

Kindly dont repeat the argument about the RTI coz frankly no one is interested to the extent of filing an RTI merely to find out the names of your better recruiters .

believe me if its no too hard for u .. i really dont intend to doubt your figures ..

A lateral profile is usually given to those with 2 years + of experience. Ofcourse, most of the companies are flexible to accommodate candidates with 21-24 months experience as well.

HI All,

i completed my Mtech in 2004 and i am married guy. Actually i am very much
interested in MBA . But i could nt get the proper Jmet rank and parallely i got Mtech
seat in IIT delhi. So i continued with and now i got 4 years of experience with me.
Now this year i want to hit the bulls eye at any cost but few things really haunting me
are

1. Is my experience is over weighted or over qualified for selection ?

2. I want to shift towards Finance from IT... So is it sounds strange or ths kind of
career shifts happening around in SJSOM

Please comment onthis as i am awaiting ur reply
